Flint Hills Resources is currently seeking a Capital Procurement Manager to join our Procurement team in Wichita, KS.  We’re looking for a self-starter with the proven ability to build relationships with customers, stakeholders and vendors.  


A successful candidate will:
  • Have strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Possess solid negotiation skills
  • Be able to work with limited daily direction
  • Have intermediate to advanced working knowledge of Office 365 Tools
  • Have the ability to analyze and interpret data, develop and support recommendations
  • Facilitate meetings and give presentations to large groups of people including upper management
  • Have a strong sense of Urgency to deal with Tactical/Emergency sourcing needs
  • Coordinate with procurement team members to ensure that the correct resources are engaged with the businesses supported


A Day In The Life Typically Includes:


  • Partnering with the business to develop strategic procurement plans that maintain & enhance our competitive position on Capital Projects
  • Facilitate ongoing vendor feedback and relationship development by being the face of FHR to the supplier
  • Acting as the primary liaison between the project team and the “Procurement” function within our Engineering, Procurement, & Construction (EPC) partners.
  • Create strong relationships with other groups at FHR to facilitate recurring reviews on performance, issues and future needs
  • Facilitating discussions with the business to optimize contracting strategy and risk mitigation
  • Ensure knowledge processes are in place to create transparency to decisions and competitive position for the project
  • Aligning supplier incentives with business objectives and ensure clear ownership between FHR and counterparties
  • Performing market discovery via the bidding processes by setting requirements and contributing to package development
  • For the projects supported some Tactical/Emergency sourcing may be required
  • Issuance and analysis of responses to bid packages including communication to suppliers
  • Owning contracts & agreement creation – partner with legal, project managers, and counterparties to develop agreements that help meet the objectives & needs of the business
  • Where feasible, seek aggregation opportunities and collaborate with other FHR facilities and Koch companies to leverage purchasing power
  • Support projects by integrating key procurement milestones with the overall project timeline


What You Will Need:

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5+ years of experience in procurement, supply chain, commercial, operations and/or reliability
  • Ability to travel up to 30% of the time

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain
  • Demonstrated capability building Access queries and databases
  • Work experience in the biofuels, chemicals, pipelines, or refining industry
  • Project Management experience
  • Experience with Ariba Sourcing
