Flint Hills Resources is looking for a Pipeline & Terminals Engineer to be a part of our Rotational Program.  Candidates will gain a full understanding of the Pipeline & Terminals industry by rotating through various locations and engineering capabilities:
  • Project Management: focusing on projects related to design, construction, maintenance, reconditioning, integrity, and expansion of pipelines and terminal facilities
  • Integrity/Corrosion Engineering: facilitation of risk management processes, work on pipeline integrity projects, help develop and manage integrity management programs for pipeline and terminal systems
  • Hydraulic Engineering: perform extensive hydraulic modeling of pipelines, including steady-state and transient analysis, implement real-time and offline pipeline hydraulic simulation applications
  • Business Development: participate in economic modeling, point-of-view analysis to validate key assumptions and ensure economics are fact-based and that alternatives have been explored prior to project approvals.
  • Reliability Engineering: perform optimization studies, and maintenance analysis to improve system reliability and efficiency
  • Pipeline and Terminals Engineering: support engineering design of pipeline and terminals systems and develop improved engineering specifications and standards

During The Rotation You Will:

 

  • Learn multiple capabilities within Pipeline & Terminals which may include any of the areas listed above
  • Focus on Compliance: ensuring projects are executed in a legal, safe, and environmentally-responsible manner
  • Understand Customer Satisfaction: possess an entrepreneurial spirit that fosters creative and innovative thinking that leads to customer satisfaction
Qualified candidates must be able to make sound economic decisions, ensure incident prevention, drive predictable execution and achieve competitive results.

What You Will Need:


Basic Qualifications:
  • Valid driver's license required
  • Must be willing to relocate for job assignments every 9 months over the course of a 2-year time-period
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Petroleum, or Electrical Engineering OR currently pursuing one of these degrees with a minimum GPA of 3.0 and an anticipated graduation of May 2018
  • Customer service and relationship skills
  • Written and verbal communications skills, interpersonal skills, and presentation skills
  • Computer skills, specifically the ability to use Microsoft® Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously, well-organized, self-motivated

 Other Considerations:

  • Willing and able to travel up to 10% of the time
  • Must be willing to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

 

This role is subject to the Transportation Workers Identifications Credentialing (TWIC) rule and requires the successful candidate to obtain a TWIC identification badge within a specific time period.


 

What Will Put You Ahead?


Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Previous engineering internship
  • One to three years of engineering experience in the pipeline or oil and gas industries
  • Project management experience with pipelines, tanks, storage terminals, booster stations, and/or truck loading or unloading facilities
  • Knowledge of DOT 195 regulations; knowledgeable and able to follow regulations accordingly
  • Understanding of pump design, hydraulic modeling and pipeline hydro testing
