Georgia-Pacific is currently recruiting Cost Estimator for our facility in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

 

Cost estimators are responsible for developing the project estimate and estimate basis and/or accountable to ensure the development and quality of 3rd party estimates.  The estimator is responsible for establishing the estimating strategy/plan based on the execution plan and deliverables available and to assemble the supporting documents for the estimate.  The cost estimator is also responsible for estimate review and validation to ensure the estimate is complete and competitive.  Collection and archiving of historical project costs for comparison the original estimate and for use on future projects is also a responsibility of the cost estimator.

 

 

A Day In The Life Typically Includes:

 

 

·        Manage the use of the Display Quote Request and Request for Quote forms through the quoting process. Including the completion by the sales team, capturing of quote metrics and capturing quote summaries

·        Gather required costing input from sales, end customer, production, or other resources. Make and document educated assumptions on inputs that are not provided or available to complete estimation.

·        Obtain input from customer, sales, and Georgia-Pacific pricing strategy guidelines to strategically quote new customer Request for Quotes and multi-component opportunities and existing customer programs to both win and meet Georgia-Pacific financial goals.

·        Visualize the production process and how product will be transformed from corrugated board to shipped product. Identify the equipment, processes and resources needed based on product specifications and release quantities.

·        Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and organize multiple priorities with a sense of urgency.

·        Work with vendors on approved vendor lists to obtain outside quotes for custom labels, tooling, miscellaneous items, freight, assembly costs, etc. to complete costing.

·        Follow Georgia-Pacific established processes to complete all required steps. If a process is not in place, work with users to develop, document, approve and implement new process. Review existing processes for opportunities to improve.

·        Know the capabilities and limitations of all Georgia-Pacific corrugation facility’s machines, including how they are set-up and ran for optimum efficiency.

·        Contributes to team effort by leading projects and accomplishing tasks related to results needed.

·        Ability to problem solve and make intelligent/educated assumptions when all information is not provided or available

·        Ability to effectively communicate through both verbal and written methods, to include in person, on the phone, in meetings, email, fax and letters

·        Utilizing economic thinking skills


What You Will Need:


Basic Qualifications:

·         Bachelor’s degree or higher

·         At least 1 year of experience in a costing or pricing focused role

·         Experience in Microsoft Office, advanced Microsoft Excel skills (including writing and troubleshooting formulas), Outlook and Internet Explorer

What Will Put You Ahead?


Preferred Qualifications:

 

·        Corrugated box and/or display management experience

·        Experience working with varying levels of organizational leadership

·        Experience in corrugation manufacturing. Know the capabilities and limitations  of all corrugation machines, including how they are set-up and ran for optimum efficiency

·        Experience in corrugation industry. Understand the components of a corrugated board and how it is made

·       Experience with project management.
