Georgia Pacific Cellulose
The GP facility located in Perry Florida is one of the largest specialty cellulose production facilities in the world.  The plant has been in operation since the 1950’s and produces specialty cellulose grades utilized in a broad range of products – from filter papers to pharmaceuticals.

A Day In The Life Typically Includes:


  • Mechanical and project engineering involving support of the mill through design, troubleshooting, project guidance, technological standardization and innovation, maintenance strategies, and energy efficiency activities.  Involvement includes project scope development, project estimating, project review and management, design and implementation.
  • Project management for managing contractors, schedules, scope development, budgets, checkout, commissioning, start-up and various other engineering/management activities as required.  
  • Project scope development, project estimating, project review and management, design and implementation.
  • Providing detailed design or support and provide technical assistance to operations, purchasing and construction management in solving both urgent and long term issues, with focus on mill’s asset reliability and sustainability.
  • Effectively communicate with internal customers and leadership, external suppliers and vendors.
  • Working closely with other disciplines to develop all aspects of the design requirements for each project.
  • Managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Utilization of the Market Based Management (MBM®) principles to deliver competitively advantaged results. 
  • Demonstrating safety as a core value through both design and implementation of projects at the facility; drive safety in design culture; ensure contractor compliance with mill safety policies and ensure safety aspects of all jobs are well communicated between operations, contractors, and engineering
  • Work occasional weekends and holidays as needed



What you will need:

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical or Civil Engineering
  • At least 5 years of experience managing capital projects in an industrial environment
  • Knowledge of project management
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Experience with critical path method scheduling, project cost coding/forecasting/tracking, P&ID’s and other project drawings and documentation

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Pulp and Paper Industry experience
  • Experience as a civil engineer in an industrial environment.
