Georgia-Pacific has an immediate opening for a Sr. Electrical Controls and Automation Engineer position in Easton, Pennsylvania.  This role will create value by providing advanced electrical engineering expertise throughout Georgia-Pacific Consumer Products group.  The ideal candidate possesses experience with designing, operating and maintaining automated manufacturing processes and also background in machine controls design, machine logic programming and human-machine interfaces development.  This is an exciting travel-based role with up to 50% travel.  If you are seeking an opportunity where you can use your technical skills, expertise and passion in a team-based environment, we’d like to learn more about you!
 
The Consumer Products Group (CPG) Engineering team consists of nearly 200 individuals across the United States working with our 15 Tissue Towel and Napkin mills and our 8 Dixie facilities on capital project execution as well as run-ability of current assets.  We are engineers, project managers and designers focused on a quality delivery.  We partner with our mills as one team, one vision, one result.

A Day In The Life Typically Includes:
 
  • Designing control systems (hardware and software) for proprietary equipment and automated manufacturing processes
  • Developing data acquisition systems to enable understanding of machine performance including loss-analysis
  • Working with vendors of commercially available equipment to ensure the control system being provided meets national, state and local electrical codes and company standards including the safety-related parts
  • Supporting capital project scope, estimate and investment proposal development
  • Providing field support including construction supervision, equipment commissioning and trouble-shooting of equipment breakdowns
  • Leading and managing small and medium-scale machine controls upgrade and automation projects
  • Successfully working in a team environment while strictly adhering to safety rules and regulations
  • Possessing strong interpersonal, communication, time management and presentation skills
  • Handling multiple issues simultaneously with a sense of urgency
  • Possessing strong computers skills in Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Project scheduling software and AutoCAD Electrical
What You Will Need:
Basic Qualifications:
  • Associates degree or higher
  • Three (3) or more years’ controls systems / automation experience within an automated manufacturing environment.
  • Experience programming and troubleshooting PLCs within automated equipment
  • Willing and able to travel up to 50% of the time
  • Experience using Microsoft Office software such as Word, Excel and Outlook
What Will Put You Ahead?
Preferred Qualifications:
 
  • Five (5) or more years' experience of machine controls system engineering experience
  • One (1) or more years’ experience designing and/or maintaining automated manufacturing processes
  • One (1) or more years’ experience managing capital projects
  • One (1) or more years’ experience using AutoCAD Electrical
  • One (1) or more years’ experience developing safety control systems that comply with ISO 13849
  • One (1) or more years’ experience implementing data acquisition systems for machine performance and loss-analysis including report writing
