Koch Fertilizer Enid, LLC. is looking for a Buyer/Category Management located in our Enid, OK.  This role will balance driving strategic development and tactical programs for capital projects, turnarounds and scheduled outages by generating project and turnaround procurement plans along with RFQs and resulting purchase orders. The successful candidate will need to bring a day-to-day understanding and ability to execute as a Buyer/Category Management while demonstrating the initiative and core capabilities to grow into a category manager.


A Day In The Life Typically Includes: 

  • Procure MRO (general mill supplies and safety; pipe, valves, fittings, flanges; electrical supplies; bearings, power transmission, and fluid power) for plant operations.
  • Procure engineered equipment for capital projects.
  • Procure contracted services by coordinating the negotiations of terms and conditions and legal review, as required, and engaging the safety vetting process to execute service agreements with contractors.
  • Monitor the status of purchase orders from issuance thru delivery via periodic monitoring with suppliers.  Expedite when required.
  • Recommend qualified, approved suppliers to receive Requests for Quotation (RFQ) for engineered equipment, goods, and contracted services. After securing agreement on the bidders list, execute the RFQ in accordance with the KAES competitive bid policy.
  • Design and lead the selection meetings held to review the Technical Bid Comparisons and CBTs and to award purchase orders.
  • Confirm that all purchase orders reflect the correct specification, supplier, price, delivery, and terms and conditions before issuing them in order to assure desired outcomes.
  • Drive improvement and adherence to KAES procurement work flow processes.  Emphasize conformance to KAES Procurement policies and procedures.
  • Maintain/improve supplier relationships to assure good communications, support, and commercial offerings.
  • Ability to function as a category manager for selected goods and services in the future. 

What You Will Need: (Basic Qualifications)


  • 2+ years in procurement/purchasing in either a manufacturing company or chemical plant.
  • Knowledge of procurement best practices including supplier relationship management, RFQs, competitive bidding, procurement planning, negotiations, etc.
  • Proficient in the use of MRP systems (Maximo or equivalent) and their purchasing module.
  • Ability to travel for periodic visits to participate in project meetings and to build/maintain rapport with requisitioners.
  • Ability to generate a high volume of purchase orders daily and respond to telephone/email requests from requisitioners and operations leaders.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, supply chain, accounting, technical or a related field.


What Will Put You Ahead: (Preferred Qualifications)


  • 5+ years in procurement/purchasing in either a manufacturing company or a chemical plant.
  • Knowledge of procurement planning processes for both capital project and turnaround execution.
  • Experience in category management (goods and/or services) and the requisite negotiations skills for Supplier Relationship Management.
  • Master’s degree in business administration, supply chain, accounting, technical or a related field.
  • CPM (Certificate in Purchasing Management)
