Koch Fertilizer Ft. Dodge, LLC is looking for an Environmental Engineer to join its team. This role assists the Environmental Manager with the overall Environmental programs for the plant works with them as a self-managed team. The Environmental Team works with all employees at the facility to coach, collaborate, oversee, and support environmentally compliant behaviors. As part of a larger organization, the Engineer plays a key role in knowledge sharing and developing corporate and site level programs.


A Day In The Life Typically Includes:



Actively participate in managing change relative to existing Title V and NPDES/Water Use permits. Track, analyze, and report leading and lagging metrics in support of EH&S program improvements. Drive waste elimination projects and implement automation projects related to environmental reporting and recordkeeping. Participate in the execution of Environmental programs and oversee projects to improve environmental compliance and risk. Develop/improve environmental culture and achieve environmental results through others (Influencer). Collaborate with contract work force to ensure environmentally compliant operations. Assist in execution of site wastewater/storm water reuse and recycle programs. Assist in execution of land application and remediation programs. Lead environmental training and coordinate with Corporate training capability. Collaborate with other Koch Environmental Engineers, Managers, and the Corporate Compliance team members. Partner with Operations, Maintenance, and external resources to ensure proper management of universal, non-hazardous, and hazardous waste. 

What You Will Need:

Basic Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of industrial environmental experience within a petrochemical, chemical, or similar industry AND Associate's/Technical Degree or higher in related field
    OR BS in Environmental Science or related field
    OR equivalent combination of experience and/or degree
  • High School Diploma (or equivalent)
  • General understanding of applicable environmental compliance programs required in an industrial setting
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with all levels of the organization
  • Demonstrated leadership and technical ability
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite software and interfacing with databases
Physical Requirements: 
  • Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather
  • Unassisted physical mobility around a plant
  • Ability to sit, stand or kneel as needed
  • Occasional exposure to fumes/airborne particles


What Will Put You Ahead:

Preferred Qualifications:


  • 5+ years of industry experience within a petrochemical, chemical, or other similar industry with 2+ years working in an Environmental program area
  • Experience applying EPA and State/Local regulatory requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Engineering or Science related field
  • Working knowledge of EPA/State/Local regulations in PSM regulated industrial facilities
  • Experience in execution of Environmental compliance programs
  • Engineering experience
  • Operations experience
  • Contractor management experience
  • Project management experience
  • Experience delivering and/or developing training to groups
