Koch Fertilizer Beatrice, LLC is looking for an Instrumentation and Electrical (I&E) Technician to work at our Beatrice, Nebraska Ammonia Plant.  The I&E Technician is responsible for the maintenance, installation and troubleshooting of process controls, electrical, instrument, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment in the plant. 

 

 

A Day In The Life Typically Includes: 
 

  • Perform emergency maintenance on failed equipment to ensure minimal production downtime
  • Install, maintain and troubleshoot PLC’s, process controls, electrical, instrument, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment
  • Calibrate, configure, and repair of measurement/control instruments for flow, level, pressure, temperature, and pH including associated valves and valve actuators
  • Assist with the shutdown and startup of equipment on shutdown projects
  • Fully comply with and ensure excellence in all areas of compliance, environmental and safety
  • Adhere to all OSHA and National Electrical Safety Code regulations and procedures
  • Repair or replace parts, rewire, install related instrument/electrical items including conduit and/or wiring
  • Preventative and proactive electrical tasks and compliance procedures
  • Inform management of any instrument/electrical parts needed and assist with maintaining the required instrument/electronic/electrical parts inventories
  • Support efforts to maximize production through creative problem solving, adaptation, and correction of process bottlenecks
  • Complete work orders and document the time, tasks and parts/supplies needed to complete the project
  • Maintain updated documentation as required

What You Will Need: (Basic Qualifications)

 

  • Experience troubleshooting electrical and instrument control systems and maintenance support equipment
  • Experience reading technical drawings and schematics
  • Understanding of electrical theory
  • Good communication and organizational skills
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office products
  • High School or GED equivalent
  • Willing to work weekends, holidays, and overtime when needed
  • Willing and able to be on an on-call rotation once qualified
  

Physical Requirements:

 
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather
  • Ability to sit, stand or kneel as needed
  • Ability to climb stairs, ladders and work at heights of approximately 25-100
  • Ability to wear a gas mask type respirator
  • Ability to pass a pulmonary breathing test
  • Unassisted physical mobility around a plant
  • Occasional exposure to fumes/airborne particles

 

What Will Put You Ahead: (Preferred Qualifications)

 

  • 5+ years of experience of industrial electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems
  • Two year technical degree or higher in industrial electrical maintenance or a related field
  • Experience troubleshooting and maintaining equipment such as Motor Controls, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC’s) and Variable Frequency Drives (VFD's)
  • Working knowledge of industrial test equipment (Hart Communicator, Multimeter, etc.) with troubleshooting and electrical skills
  • Experience interpreting process, instrumentation and electrical drawings
  • Experience troubleshooting process equipment (mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, etc.)
  • Experience with Yokogawa Distributed Control System (DCS) and Safety Instrumented System (SIS)
  • PLC/DCS I/O troubleshooting experience        
  • Instrumentation controls/electrical technician background.
  • Experience utilizing a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS)
