Koch Ag & Energy Solutions is looking for a Market Analyst to join our global fertilizer trading group at our headquarters in Wichita, KS.  In this position, you will be vital in maintaining and developing day-to-day fundamental analysis for KAES’ fertilizer production, marketing, and trading businesses.


You will be responsible for developing, forecasting, and communicating fundamental knowledge systems around dry fertilizer products – focusing on supply and demand balances both domestically and globally.  An ability to learn quickly, problem solve, and think in depth about commodity markets and economic principles will be critical to success. The successful candidate will be a strong economic thinker, have effective problem solving & analytical skills, a willingness to learn, a passion for international business and a willingness to work across various time zones, and comfortable working in teams.


A Day In The Life Typically Includes: 

  • Responsible for identifying global price setting mechanisms and forecasting regional price basis changes.
  • Develop and maintain key knowledge systems related to our global fertilizer trading capability
  • Maintains tools to track short-term supply and demand balances by region
  • Daily/weekly email communication of key market drivers, key assumptions, and 0-6-month price POV
  • Work with the commercial team to develop and refine mental models and strategies for trading opportunities within the fertilizer space
  • Coordinate with our traders and analysts in Sao Paulo, London, and Beijing to sharpen our POV inputs
  • Remain connected to, and communicate to the broader team, cross commodity spreads and ratios to grains. Understand and communicate how geopolitical conflict, fluctuations in currency, or sanctions/tariffs may influence fertilizer drivers/prices.
  • Knowledge sharing with KAES’ long term analysis team, and other analysts across Koch companies


What You Will Need: (Basic Qualifications)


  • 3+ years in market or economic analysis
  • Experience in commodity markets
  • Experience with MS Excel (developing spreadsheets from scratch, index formulas, V look-ups, etc.)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Accounting, Finance, Engineering, or a related field



What Will Put You Ahead: (Preferred Qualifications)


  • 5+ years in market or economic analysis, specifically commodity analysis
  • Experience in the Agricultural Industry
  • Technical statistics experience including experience with business visualization tools (Ex: Tableau, R, Stata, SAS, Python)
