Koch Ag & Energy Solutions is seeking a motivated and self-driven Middle Office Manager to join our team in Houston, TX. The Middle Manager interacts with a diverse group of people within accounting, risk, trading, origination, scheduling/operations, IT and other Koch companies. Additionally, this candidate will gain a solid understanding of the company supported, including profit drivers, industry, competitors, and the market in which the business competes. This role is responsible for maintaining key business trading support and leading strategic initiatives that advance the capability and business it supports. The successful applicant will be a proven change agent, highly motivated and focused to lead a team, have proven analytical, critical and economic thinking skills to problem solve and have superior communication and collaboration skills in a team-oriented, open-floor environment.


A Day In The Life Typically Includes:  

 

  • Effective Leadership
    • Developer of talent. Coach and develop analyst team to advance in role effectiveness and career aspirations.
    • Advance Koch Energy Services' (KES) financial analysis capability. Leading effective analysis that results in more informed commercial decision making.
    • Ensure adequate coverage of 1.) ongoing business support while 2.) advancing key initiatives
    • Leading transformation in how roles are performed (sustainable, efficient, effective)
  • Advancing Key Knowledge Systems
    • Driving Energy Trading and Risk Management system (ETRM) improvements facilitating desired inputs and outputs resulting in effective PnL, Positions and risk measures
    • Implementing tools and analytics that facilitate improved marginal analysis and drive effective marginal decision making (utilizing tools such as Tableau, Alteryx, etc)
    • Leading sustainable and repeatable processes, reporting and analysis exist across the trade control analyst team
  • Business Partnership
    • Develop solid understanding of the market structure and key commercial strategies deployed in the market
    • On-going development and support of financial analysis needs for KES activity (from summarized PnL to strategy performance to deal level/ad hoc analysis) that provides transparency & supports effective decision making.
    • Understanding and appreciation for all steps in the Life cycle of a trade ensuring smooth operations with front, mid and back office teams
    • Partner with other leaders to drive necessary operations excellence improvements.
    • Participating in unique deal structuring execution support
  • Controls
    • Stewardship over Koch Industries Trade Control/Financial Control functions.
    • Coordination and alignment with accounting/settlements team to ensure consistency and continuity between trading system valuation all the way through cash receipt in the ledger (Full life cycle of a trade).

 

What You Will Need:


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s in Accounting, Finance, Math, Economics, Business or Technology
  • 2+ years of experience with Direct Leadership/Supervisory responsibilities
  • 2+ years of experience in commodity markets
  • 2+ years of experience in mid-office (Valuation and/or Risk)
  • Experience in physical natural gas or power markets
  • Experience in Mark-to-Market Accounting
  • Experience in an ETRM (Energy Trading & Risk Management) system
  • Experience in trade control and financial control functions
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time

What Will Put You Ahead:


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s in Accounting, Finance, Math, Economics, Business or Technology
  • Experience working with OpenLink Endur (ETRM)
  • Trading back-office / general ledger experience
  • Experience with Oracle (EBS) General Ledger 
  • Experience in Analytics technology implementing and leveraging visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI, etc.)
