Koch Ag & Energy Solutions, LLC. (KAES) is seeking a Project Controls Analyst who will support the delivery of competitive project origination, development, and execution, be a primary point of contact for Project Controls, and be a member of a team that has an opportunity to create significant value within the organization. This position will leverage well-rounded knowledge of cost accounting and project practices with a primary focus on Cost Control, Change Management and Reporting. This role will be instrumental in accelerating the improvements and innovation to our Project Controls systems and internal knowledge by providing dedicated support and building Project Controls Capability within the KAES Project and Turnaround Teams.


A Day In The Life Typically Includes:

  • Provide technical direction, mentoring and assistance to project managers, construction managers, and engineers in applying tools and processes to; define a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) applicable to the project deliverables, develop project baselines for budget including contingency, setup project budgets in the Project Controls System(s), understand business system inputs and impact to other systems and decisions, analyze performance and identify variances and forecast project outcomes.

  • Lead implementation and facilitate application of project change management practices across facilities.
  • Perform ad-hoc queries and reporting on project data for various stakeholders and customers.
  • Be familiar with procurement and work management processes to assist project teams.
  • Assist in the development of project reporting, including project cost and schedule metrics.


What You Will Need: (Basic Qualifications) 

  • Able to effectively communicate, and negotiate with various teams to resolve cost control issues
  • Ability to collaborate with diverse employee skillsets at multiple facility locations and work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to influence and lead change
  • Advanced computer skills and proven proficiency with MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Detail oriented, organized, and able to handle multiple priorities with a sense of urgency
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Good interpersonal relationships skills
  • Willing and able to travel up to 25%
  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering, Accounting, Finance, Construction Management or related field OR High school diploma or equivalent with 5+ years of capital project experience in the refining/chemical/heavy industrial sector
Physical Requirements:


  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs. 
  • Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather 
  • Ability to sit, stand or kneel as needed 
  • Occasional exposure to fumes/airborne particles  
  • Unassisted physical mobility around a plant



What Will Put You Ahead: (Preferred Qualifications)


  • 5+ years’ experience on cost control of Construction Projects in an industrial business, working with project work processes in a phased project work system.
  • Working knowledge of project management principles and familiarity with IPA, AACE, and PMI practices
  • Plant Turnaround experience
  • Familiarity with Project and Portfolio Management systems and/or reporting software or other industry recognized Project Controls/Management software
  • Project Controls/Project Management related professional certification or industry relevant continuing education desirable
  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering, Accounting, Construction Management, or related field with 5+ years of capital/expense project experience in the refining/chemical/heavy industrial sector
  • Project Controls/Project Management related professional certification or industry relevant continuing education desirable
  • Experience applying industry recognized principles and techniques to cost control, change management
  • Experience using Cost Control tools to help project teams manage project and take action
