Koch Ag & Energy Solutions is looking for a Large Cap Project Controls Leader who will support the delivery of competitive project origination, development, and execution, be a primary point of contact for Large Cap Project Controls and be a member of a team that has an opportunity to create significant value with the organization. This position will leverage well-rounded knowledge of Project process and Project Controls practices including cost accounting, estimating, scheduling, risk management, change management, performance measurement and project practices.  This role would be instrumental in accelerating the improvements and innovation to our Project Controls systems and internal knowledge by providing dedicated support and building Project Controls Capability within the KAES Large Cap Project Teams.

 

 

A Day In The Life Typically Includes: 
 

  • Define KAES expectations and apply industry best practices for Large Cap Project Controls
  • Drive consistent/balanced application of controls, based on project risk and complexity
  • Develop sustainable Project Controls capability for successful delivery of Large Capital projects
  • Collaborate with Engineering Leaders and Education Capability to deliver effective training
  • Support risk management for Large Cap projects including contractor risk assessments/strategies
  • Partner with Large Cap Project teams and 3rd party suppliers/contractors to deliver competitive projects
  • Partner with Project Leaders to define and implement Large Cap Project Controls resourcing strategies
  • Support the recruitment and development of Project Controls Resources
  • Set expectations for contractor Project Controls and assist with application
  • Provide Project Controls oversight and analysis for EPC support of projects
  • Develop critical performance measures for Large Cap Projects that will drive action/behavior
  • Assess performance to Project Controls expectations and hold Project Teams accountable for application
  • Support development of innovative, integrated, simple, and scalable project controls solutions
  • Define Benchmarking Strategies for Projects and translate results into actionable strategies

 


What You Will Need: (Basic Qualifications)

 

  • 5+ years’ experience applying Project Controls on Construction Projects in an industrial business, working with project work processes in a phased project work system.
  • Working knowledge and experience applying project management principles and IPA, AACE, and PMI practices.
  • Ability to apply industry recognized practices (e.g. cost control, change management, planning and scheduling, and project management) to Large Cap Projects.
  • Experience utilizing Project Control tools to help project teams manage project costs and constructively influence project outcomes
  • Proven ability in effectively communicate, and negotiate with various stakeholders to resolve issues
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with diverse employee skillsets at multiple facility, engineering and contractor locations and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Experience influencing and leading change
  • Advanced computer skills and proven proficiency with MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Detail oriented, organized, and able to handle multiple priorities with a sense of urgency.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal relationships skills.
  • Willing and able to travel up to 40%
  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering, Accounting, Finance, Construction Management or related field

  

Physical Requirements:

   

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather
  • Ability to sit, stand or kneel as needed
  • Occasional exposure to fumes/airborne particles
  • Unassisted physical mobility around a plant
  • Ability to climb stairs, ladders and work at heights of approximately 25-100 ft.

 

 

What Will Put You Ahead: (Preferred Qualifications)

 

  • 5+ years’ experience leading Large Cap Project Controls teams for Construction Projects in an industrial business, working with project work processes in a phased project work system.
  • Experience integrating Capital and Plant Turnaround Project Controls practices

  • Familiarity with Project and Portfolio Management systems and/or reporting software or other industry recognized Project Controls/Management software

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in an Engineering, Accounting, Construction Management, or related field with 10+ years of capital/expense project experience in the refining/chemical/heavy industrial sector

  • Project Controls/Project Management related professional certification or industry relevant continuing education desirable
