Koch Fertilizer Fort Dodge is seeking a motivated individual for the position of Rotating Equipment Mechanic. This position is responsible for troubleshooting, completing preventative maintenance tasks, repairing, replacing and overhauling rotating equipment.



Essential duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for maintenance on pumps, compressors, fans, gearboxes, turbines and engines
  • Responsible for execution of preventative maintenance tasks, per procedures
  • Responsible for completion of training, and use of precision maintenance practices learned through training
  • Responsible for oversite of quality expectations of a contracting resource, executing work on plant equipment
  • Responsible for interface with maintenance customers, ensuring that the needs of the customer are met
  • Responsible for quality work order closure, follow-up and documentation of work completed


Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Previous experience in a maintenance field
  • Ability to follow and execute procedures
  • Ability to apply critical thinking skills
  • Ability to read and understand a technical manual, developing repair plans for rotating equipment
  • Interpersonal skills, ability to respectfully work with customers, vendors, contractors, peers
  • Ability and willingness to hold yourself to a very high standard
  • Some technical training in a related mechanical field


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Completion of an Industrial Maintenance technical degree
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering
  • 5+ years experience as a rotating equipment mechanic, focused on large industrial rotating equipment.
  • Experience as a rotating equipment planner, or SME
  • Previous experience in a chemical facility

Physical Requirements/Unusual Working Conditions:

  • Able to work outdoors in all types of weather
  • Able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Able to pass a pulmonary breathing test and wear a gas mask type respirator
  • Ability to sit, stand or kneel as needed
  • Ability to climb stairs, ladders and work at heights of approximately 25-100 feet
  • Ability to wear a gas mask type respirator
  • Occasional exposure to fumes/airborne particles
  • Unassisted physical mobility around  plant
