Koch Ag & Energy Solutions, LLC. (KAES) is looking for a Turbo Machinery Capability Leader to join our Operations Excellence capability. The preferred location for the role will be in our corporate office in Wichita, KS but we are open to other office or remote locations.

The Turbo Machinery Capability Leader will work closely with the operations, maintenance, and project organizations for multiple production facilities in North America and is responsible for various aspects of the asset life cycle for turbo machinery and rotating equipment.  This role will identify and recommend actions to reduce unplanned events and improve equipment reliability and lead mechanical integrity program.  This position offers attractive growth potential and a collaborative and open work environment that provides opportunity for innovation and value creation. A Day In The Life Typically Includes:


  • Lead/influence fleet engineers in evaluating risks and assigning risks.
  • Provide ownership of KAES PSM Mechanical Integrity program.
  • Provide ownership of KAES Engineering Practices.
  • Develop, coach and mentor facility engineers in reliability practices.
  • Use Failure Mode Cause Analysis (FMCA) / Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) to develop reliability strategies for rotating equipment
  • Develop and implement PM plans and strategies, in coordination with Plant Engineers.
  • Analyze equipment trends and historical data to develop and adjust reliability programs
  • Assist in development of rotating equipment asset strategies.
  • Partner with operating plants and assign criticality rating of rotating equipment.
  • Develop and oversee KAES rotating equipment metrics. (TBD later).
  • Develop “dashboards” for remote monitoring of rotating equipment for predictive maintenance.
  • Develop digital transformation tools and technologies on rotating equipment for reliability.
  • Provide oversight of fleet reliability opportunities and facilitate implementation across all sites.
  • Assist with facilitation of the cross site rotating team.
  • Actively participate in industry and internal networks to grow knowledge of both machinery and influential leadership
  • Develop standardized and sustainable work processes, practices and procedures for use throughout the fleet.
  • Assists project managers in design for reliability for front end loading of projects.
  • Lead and mentor employees to apply Koch’s Market Based Management (MBM)


What You Will Need: (Basic Qualifications)


  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and 5 years’ experience, or 10+ years’ experience in process plant environments, related to rotating equipment, preferably with some combination of design, reliability, and repair experience in rotating equipment
  • Experience developing strategies and processes for fleet programs that are sustainable.
  • Relationship builder. 
  • Strong communication skills and a proven influential leader. Ability to work in a cross-functional organization with corporate and plant level customers
  • Experience with API and other applicable industry standards for rotating equipment, design and maintenance
  • Experience with inspections data management.
  • Highly collaborative and willing to share ideas
  • Possess strong ethics, integrity and humility.
  • Willing and able to travel up to 50% of the time
  • Availability to work long hours in turnarounds and outages
  • High school diploma or GED



Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to left and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to sit, stand or kneel as needed
  • Unassisted physical mobility around a plant
  • Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather 

What Will Put You Ahead: (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Experience in fertilizer industry and/or experience
  • Lube oil and vibration analysis
  • Minimum Level II Vibration Analyst
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (preferably Mechanical)
