Technical Sales Representative
 
Koch-Glitsch Canada is looking for a Technical Sales Representative to be based out of our Calgary or Edmonton office.  This role will have primary strategic responsibility for business development related to service and replacement equipment for key accounts.  To be successful in this role, a good technical understanding of the chemical and petrochemical market with the business products (trays, packings and tower internals) and services is required to provide support to customers. 
 
The Technical Sales Representative will work closely with the Company’s other personnel in Sales/Field Service, Estimating, Engineering and Manufacturing to achieve the primary objectives.  Using MBM® and our Guiding Principles, the successful candidate will endeavour to create measurable and sustainable value for the Company and ensure that sales and business development efforts support the Company’s overall strategy and goals.  Pricing strategies and process development are also components of this role that will be essential along with effective presentation skills.
 
Your duties & responsibilities:
  • Provide and optimize sales service for both equipment and field services to new and existing customers.
  • Maintain and enhance the customer relationship with existing customers and develop opportunities with new customers.
  • Work with project estimators and process team in developing accurate estimates and proposals for potential projects.
  • Negotiate commercial aspects of contracts.
  • Attend trade shows, conferences and industry meetings to stay informed of the market.

The ideal candidate will have: 

  • A university degree in engineering, business or related field is preferred.
  • 5 to 10 years of outside sales experience selling to the refining and chemical industry.
  • Ability to build and develop working relationships with customers (internal and external).
  • Critical thinking skills with an emphasis on value creation
  • Demonstrated capability to conduct technical discussions, make sales presentations and prepare proposals for all Koch-Glitsch Canada products and services.
  • Strong background in the mechanical &/or process related construction industry.
  • Excellent English communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work in a time critical environment and make critical assessments when necessary.
  • Proficient negotiation skills.
  • Having experience/knowledge in the following areas are definite assets:
    • Established relationships in the chemical and petrochemical industries
    • Knowledge of construction and/or maintenance in refinery/chemical plants
    • Knowledge of plant turnaround planning/execution
    • Pressure vessel/welding knowledge/experience
    • Experience and/or background in mass transfer equipment
    • Project management experience or background
