Koch Heat Transfer is seeking a Project Quality Manager at our plant in Houston located at 12602 FM 529 Road, Houston, TX 77041.

The successful candidate will be a highly self-motivated and result oriented individual responsible for project quality management through the development of quality plans and requirements that are practical and efficient to execute. The person in this role will serve as a resource for questions related to quality, NDE, testing, fabrication, and Code requirements.
The ideal candidate will be a pressure vessel design, manufacturing, or quality professional with demonstrated integrity, customer focus, ability to lead challenging situations, and to embrace change. This position requires someone who is detail-oriented, can efficiently multi-task, communicates well, and able to succeed in complex interactions. The ideal candidate will have a proven record of developing project quality documentation to meet customer requirements.

The person in this role will report directly to the Quality/Welding Engineer Manager and will have other employees reporting to him/her.
A Day In The Life Typically Includes:
The successful candidate for the position will be responsible for the following duties:
  • Work with sales to review specifications, understand requirements, develop cost impact, write clarifications, and write exceptions.
  • Develop project quality plans in conjunction with mechanical engineering.
  • Advise mechanical engineering of additional notes and requirements specific to projects.
  • Kick off complex projects with manufacturing.
  • Perform inspections as required.
  • Lead, follow and embrace all the Safety Procedures.
  • Understand and apply Koch’s Market-Based Management® and MBM Guiding Principles.
  • Associates degree in a technical field or 15 years relevant industry experience.
  • At least five years of working experience with ASME Code.
  • At least five years of interpretation and application of technical documents.
  • At least five years of working knowledge of ASME Section VIII Division I and ASME Section V.
  • At least five years of working knowledge of welding processes and NDE techniques
  • Ability to apply NDE procedures
  • At least five years of demonstrated working experience and proficiency with Microsoft Office® Suite (Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Outlook) and ERP Systems
  • Willing to travel 35% of the time
  • Able to meet the physical demands of the job:
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to have full range of mobility in upper and lower body, able to reach overhead, able to work in various positions, including, but not limited to stooping, standing, bending over, sitting, kneeling, squatting; use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance for extended periods of time. Be able to lift, pull and push material and equipment to complete assigned job tasks. Be able to lift 50 pounds of weight throughout assigned workday if required. Exposure to shop elements such as, noise, dust, fumes and odors.  Moderate to heavy physical activity performing somewhat strenuous daily activities of a primarily production environment. 
  • ASME Section VIII D1 Code training course
  • Certified level II VT, PT, MT, RT, and/or UT
  • NACE coating inspector level II
  • Knowledge of tubular heat exchangers
  • Associated Degree in Welding Technology
  • Certified Welding Inspector
