Georgia-Pacific is currently seeking a Category Manager for the Consumer Innovation business team in Atlanta, GA.  Reporting to a Senior Director- Innovation, the successful candidate will use their general management skills and leadership capabilities to play an active role in the development and execution of the overall category and business vision and strategies.  As a member of the business team, this position works closely with a wide range of capability partners, including sales, brand building, supply chain, operations, finance, pricing/portfolio strategy and others to deliver against key priorities.

A Day In The Life Typically Includes:

  • Wearing many different hats and functioning as an entrepreneur managing a startup business
  • Brainstorming creatives ways to grow sales and outlining tactical steps/requirements to execute these
  • Executing against identified plan and engaging capabilities as needed
  • Measuring results, synthesizing learnings, and providing recommendations
  • Working with marketing agencies to develop campaigns and activations customized for the target consumer
  • Fielding questions from Customer Service team associated with customer escalations
  • Working with development teams on design and manufacturing for future versions of the product
  • Supporting Project Management activities for various initiatives (e.g. packaging refreshes, product development, etc.) to ensure comprehensive plan is laid out, appropriate resources are allocated and aligned, an timelines are set and met
  • Monitoring sales trends, developing forecasts, and initiating product reordering to ensure in stock position
  • Helping populate the Consumer Devices roadmap through supporting POV work to identify Opportunity Areas
  • Developing Specific Opportunities within each Opportunity Area and validating the size of the problem through consumer research and rapid experimentation

What You Will Need:

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher
  • At least 5 years of business, marketing, product management or operations
  • Experience
  • Knowledge of innovation frameworks and product development process
  • Experience successfully working in cross-functional teams and managing projects
  • Proficiency with MS Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience in the CPG/Retail industry or related fields

What Will Put You Ahead?

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA degree highly preferred
  • Innovation experience
  • Previous experience working with IRI and/or Nielsen syndicated databases
