Georgia-Pacific is recruiting a Business Unit Controller to be a key member of the Corrugated Controller’s Group who will be responsible for the financial analysis, accounting and internal controls of 20 corrugated box plants and sheet feeder operations within our Industrial and Sheets Packaging groups. The facilities are located throughout the United States, including one location in Mexico.  The candidate will be based in Atlanta, GA and will travel as needed to meet business requirements.

We manufacture standard corrugated containers as well as many specialty-packaging products, (including double- and triple-wall boxes, bulk bins, water-resistant packaging, and high-finish and preprinted packaging for point-of-sale displays) for many industries.

Responsibilities:

 

  • Promote an effective partnering relationship with Corrugated group leaders and field based General Managers and Operations Leaders
  • Provide oversight and financial leadership for 20 corrugated facilities in the Corrugated Industrial and Sheets Packaging group
  • Assist the business in building and maintaining a strong Internal Financial Control capability
  • Train and mentor professionals in finance, accounting and other disciplines and groom them for roles with increased responsibilities
  • Serve as the financial leader on the group management team, drive value creation and enhance decision making
  • Provide leadership and supervision for a support staff including 5 Area Controllers
  • Seek out and lead innovation and process improvement opportunities



What You Will Need:

 

Education Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, Business or Economics
Basic Qualifications:
  • At least TEN years of financial analysis and accounting experience - preferably in a manufacturing environment 
  • Previous supervisory experience including team leadership and talent development
  • Demonstrated success in supporting profit improvement through effective decision support tools and analytics
  • Ability to work effectively across various business functions and capabilities
  • Clearly understand integrated financial systems, complex accounting systems
  • Must be able and willing to travel overnight to meet the requirements stated above
  • Prior experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Microsoft Word, Excel - spreadsheet creation/editing, pivot tables, data analysis/manipulation and formula creation, etc., Access-query, and PowerPoint – presentation creation/editing)

  • Proven fiduciary skills and oversight of internal controls (US GAAP)
  • Proven Interpersonal skills to effectively motivate others
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and financial systems skills
  • Willing to drive and lead change, improve process, challenge status quo with a strong sense of urgency
  • Flexible in a dynamic/fast paced environment and have the ability to change and adjust priorities to achieve goals
  • Strong presentation skills and ability to interact successfully with various levels of the organization
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) and planning and organizational skills are desired
  • Proactive/self-driven work habits with demonstrated ability to lead change, improve processes and solve problems

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • CPA or MBA designation
  • Manufacturing experience
  • Consumer products experience
  • Advanced/Expert level MS Excel skills
  • Experience with visual data analytics tools (i.e. Tableau) or other BI tools
  • SAP, Infinium, Infor or large ERP experience preferred
  • Experience with key financial concepts: variance analysis, product costing, inventory and capital investments
