Central Purchasing Manager


The Manager, a member of the Centralized Procurement group, is responsible for helping develop and grow the central buying capability.  The Central Procurement group is responsible for purchasing, negotiating and contracting materials and supplies from external vendors. This person will work with the central purchasing team, as well as internal customers and external suppliers, to drive value to company operations and identified projects, either in the form of cost savings, increased service levels, risk management, and/or process efficiency. 


The ideal candidate has a proven technical skills and track record of creating value through building strong working relationships; has a principled entrepreneurial mindset and has the ability to build a capability that delivers maximum total cost of ownership to operations. 

A Day In The Life Typically Includes:



  • Manage and be accountable for the central purchasing team and the processes they execute and support, across facilities with large amounts of spend in a high-volume environment.

  • Help build partnerships within the facilities and across the capabilities in order to create value for the businesses they support.

  • Lead a team of purchasing professionals to excellence in Safety, Health and Environmental Compliance, total cost of ownership of goods and services, competitively advantaged agreements and process efficiency.

  • Lead the overall direction and management of strategic procurement for categories and suppliers included in the central procurement scope, while partnering with customers, to ensure the creation of maximum value in quality, cost, reliability, & delivery in areas of endeavor.

  • Develop strong category partnerships, aligning with and managing strategic initiatives, commitments and supply chain strategies.

  • Interface with the mill procurement teams pertaining to business initiatives and value drivers.

What You Will Need:

Basic Qualifications:
  • 2-5 years of purchasing experience.

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher.

  • Strong business acumen along with exemplary communication at all levels, written and verbal.

  • Proven track record of results at implementing change at levels within an organization.

  • Results-oriented leadership style with strong influencing skills.

  • Willing and able to travel as required (less than 25%)

What Will Put You Ahead?

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or Higher in Purchasing, Supply Chain, Business, Finance or Engineering.
  • Negotiations, risk assessment and contract management experience.
  • Diverse experience with different commodities and commodity management.
  • MRO purchasing experience.
