Koch Fertilizer Dodge City, LLC is seeking a self-motivated and driven candidate to join the team as a Construction Manager. The Construction Manager will support Koch Fertilizer's production facility in Dodge City, KS by providing on-site construction management for capital and maintenance projects. This will include coordinating construction with various departments, both internal and external to the company. The Construction Manager will be required to track and control procurement and receipt of project related materials, read blueprints and technical drawings, articulate for construction and utilize computerized scheduling and planning tools.

 

A Day In The Life Typically Includes:

  • Daily oversight of onsite contractors to ensure contractors are meeting Koch Standards for quality and safety to act as the primary on-site interface with construction contractors on safety, schedule, cost, change management and quality/precision installation performance
  • Provide on-site field management of small and large capital projects
  • Improve crew's efficiency and execution of projects
  • Promote and model safe work practices to ensure a safe work environment, including a high level of collaboration with site safety, health and environmental leadership
  • Collaborate with the engineering, operations, compliance groups to ensure work is performed in a safe, environmentally compliant and cost-efficient method
  • Active involvement in project reviews and post-project analyses of executed opportunities
  • Develop and improve field execution of project process
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations and industry standards
  • Answer calls and track down parts at all hours of the day when there are plant emergencies
  • Provide quality control oversight throughout construction to ensure project drawings and specifications are met
  • Support Project Managers to lead projects and determine cost effective construction strategies 

What You Will Need:


Basic Qualifications:

 

  • 3+ years' experience in managing small and large capital industrial projects, job site safety management,
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in delivering on time budget projects without EH&S incidents
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint)
  • Experience in contractor coordination and/or oversight (preferably in an industrial setting)
  • Willing and able to travel up to 10% of the time
  • Must be able to manage jobs within the process area
  • Must be available to work extended hours during project execution
  • Self-motivated; capable of working independently, as well as part of a team
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Proven ability to track and manage multi-disciplined construction teams
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Good interpersonal skills, able to build relationships with multiple groups
  • Knowledge of Chemical plant equipment

 

Physical Requirements:
 
  • Ability to work in a continuously operating manufacturing plant, including climbing of stairs and ladders
  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in designated areas – (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, safety shoes and hearing protection)

 

What Will Put You Ahead:


Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or construction discipline, construction management or comparable experience
  • Experience in heavy construction projects involving piping, welding, structural and electrical disciplines to industrial coatings and linings
  • Excavation standards and requirements to API Projects and inspections
  • Knowledge of industrial codes and standards
  • Chemical and/or refining experience
  • HAZWOPER training
