Position Summary:
The primary role of the Construction Leader is to plan, execute, and finalize projects that meet the objectives and comply with all the national, state, corporate and site codes, laws and regulations;
  • safety [EH&S, OSHA],
  • quality [TQM, MI programs],
  • budget [SAP, K base estimating and field cost control]
  • Schedule [MS Project, P6, master plans] including acquiring resources for staff and scope execution [contract tender process, administration] as well as coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants.
 This role will collaborate across multiple departments throughout INVISTA, (excellent verbal and written communication skills), apply economic thinking skills and work effectively at all levels of the organization.  This role is expected to oversee all activities led by the Construction Management organization and be responsible for setting expectations for all field work completed as part of the project.
 
Responsibilities:
 
The construction manager is accountable for EHS performance and business effectiveness of contracted workers while executing projects at the Camden, SC site.  This will include:
  • Promoting and modeling safe work practices to provide a safe work environment. This will include a high level of collaboration with site safety, environmental, and health leadership.
  • Establishing and implementing procedures, practices, training and auditing processes to ensure EHS requirements are met by both INVISTA employees and contract workforce throughout the construction phase of the project.
  • Participation in the conceptual development of a construction project and oversight of its execution, scheduling, and implementation through final construction and turnover on a timely and economical basis.
  • Coordinating and managing people (multiple crafts), materials, and equipment; budgets, schedules, and contracts; and safety of personnel involved in the project execution.
  • Validation of on-site goods and services provided by approved contractors.
  • Working with Project Manager, Planning and Scheduling Leader, Maintenance Work Process Leader, Material Coordinators, and Small Projects Gatekeeper to develop clear, concise performance based statements of work (SOW) focused on obtaining goods and services of required quality, on time, and within budget.
  • Maintaining open communication and positive working relationships with on-site Business Support functions such as Finance, Accounting and Procurement to identify cost opportunities and ensure budgets are accurately tracked.
  • Familiarity with the Terms and Conditions of the contract and responsibility for the development of a contract administration plan with the project manager to include a communication plan, responsibility matrix, work breakdown structure, and a schedule of key tasks.
  • Administering contract changes, monitoring progress, identifying and resolving issues with the contractor, and acceptance/rejection of services performed.
  • Providing good economic thinking and decision making regarding how to properly resource work (INVISTA resources, resident contractors, or non-resident contractors).
  • Work with operations team to determine and meet all requirements for the safe, efficient handover of project scope at mechanical completion according to the system turnover plan.
  • Lead and implement a clear communication plan for advising changes and resolving conflicts among the integrated team.
 
Required Education, Experience, and Skills:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  •  Minimum of 3 years of Contract Administration experience/management of field construction.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience with vendors and contract labor suppliers in a commercial or industrial arena.
  • Experience leading meetings on Cost, Timekeeping, Staffing, Safety and other topics as they are identified.   
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience utilizing MS Excel to create / edit spreadsheets, PowerPoint to create presentations, and Outlook or similar email platform to manage a calendar, schedule meetings, etc.
 
Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills:
  • Associate's Degree
  • 5-10 years of Field Contract Administration experience
  • Field construction project management experience
  • Experience working in a chemical manufacturing facility
  • Sound knowledge of commercial/legal contract language structure
