DECISION ANALYTICS CO-OP

The Decision Analytics Intern will be joining the Decision Analytics team to work on exciting projects that will add real value to GP.

About Decision Analytics: 
The Decision Analytics group is a unique, centralized team within GP that pursues innovative analytics opportunities across the company’s different business segments. The team has high-level support from GP business leaders and seeks to partner with those businesses to urgently leverage experiential discovery in creating, and prototyping profit making solutions that are scalable across the GP enterprise. 

Responsibilities:  
  • Operations Simulation Project Participation:  Work closely with GP Analytics and Operations experts and engineers in pursuing innovative ideas/operations simulation methods/techniques for application in optimizing manufacturing operations; capture value by uncovering, communicating, and implementing actionable insights
  • Developing Machine Learning Models: Develop predictive machine learning models that capture value for the business by either providing predictive insight or prescribe / recommend an action.
  • Thought Partnership:  Enable improved decision making by assisting the project team in developing relationships with key operations/business partners.

 Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: 

  • Structured & Logical Thinking: Ability to identify and define solution paths to operations challenges and develop strategic, analytical, and technical frameworks to conduct analysis. A strong problem-solving capability is critical to this role.
  • Analytical Rigor: Proven capability creating statistical models aligned with scientific and engineering principles.
  • Strong Communication: Ability to communicate effectively and succinctly, both verbally and on paper, and with all levels of an organization. Able to make presentations tailored to audience and communicate in an open and intellectually honest manner that quickly builds trust and respect.
  • Leadership Skills: Demonstrate strong leadership skills, independent thinking, an entrepreneurial spirit, and project/task ownership, best demonstrated by the individual’s ability to gain credibility with team members, senior management, and customers.
  • Professional Skills: Creative thinker who is intellectually curious with a demonstrated interest in learning and high degree of self-motivation. The incumbent need to function in a high demand, performance-driven environment, with ability to navigate aggressive timelines for project success.
  • Willingness & Ability to Learn

 Basic Requirements:

  • GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Pursuing a master's degree in Business Analytics, Data Science, Decision Analytics, or a closely related field
  • Experience with R or Python
Preferred Qualifications: 
  • Prior work experience in scientific (e.g., physics, chemistry)/engineering (e.g., mechanical, chemical, electrical), process data analysis, statistical modeling, and machine learning.
  • Strong application and programing experience with commercial manufacturing simulation platforms, such as, FlexSim, ExtendSim, Arena, SQL etc.
