Koch Membrane Systems (KMS)

For more than five decades, Koch Membrane Systems, Inc. (KMS) has led the way in developing innovative membrane technologies that serve a diverse range of industries and applications around the globe. KMS provides comprehensive membrane filtration solutions to many markets, including municipal, food and beverage, life sciences and industrial processes, focused on helping thousands of its customers to recover high value products, reduce their water footprint, increase productivity, and reduce costs. KMS is headquartered in Wilmington, Massachusetts, a suburb north of Boston but has employees located worldwide.  The right person will be technically strong (engineer preferred) and needs to have a deep understanding of at least one of the following technologies:  membrane filtration, filter presses and cartridge filters, ion exchange, centrifuges and clarifiers, separators, decanters, evaporators, and crystallizers. The right candidate will also be able to learn the other technologies as needed.



Primary Responsibilities: 

  1. Director Business Development responsible for identifying, developing and executing strategic growth opportunities for KMS.

  2. Collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders.  This includes working with colleagues across the respective Koch companies.

  3. Recommend target sectors after evaluating market & technology trends, competitive landscape, and product and service offering gaps.

  4. Explore new value creation opportunities created by various separation technologies with focus on membrane separation in food, beverage, life sciences, automotive, textile and general industrial markets.   

  5. Identify, screen, propose and close potential business acquisitions, investments, and partnerships which are in line with KMS’ long term growth vision.

  6. Attend global conferences and industry events to present KMS solutions.  Network with industry leaders, experts and emerging technology companies to gather and provide feedback on market trends and dynamics.

  7. Reports directly to the KMS President. 


  • Ten (10) plus years of experience in technical sales selling capital equipment, preferably in membrane or filtration products
  • Five (5) plus years in a business development leadership role with demonstrated record of successfully identifying and executing strategic growth plans; including organic growth initiatives, acquisitions, investments, and commercial partnerships
  • Economic thinker with ability to internalize big picture company goals


  • Ability to travel up to 50%
  • 5+ years of experience in business development or technical sales role
  • Degree in Engineering or Business Administration with related experience desired
  • Knowledge of separation technologies used in food, beverage and industrial processes such as membrane filtration, filter presses and cartridge filters, ion exchange, centrifuges and clarifiers, separators, decanters, evaporators, and crystallizers.
