Flint Hills Resources is looking for an Electrical/Automation Engineer to join our Pipelines and Terminals engineering team at our Wichita, KS headquarters. 
 
We’re looking for a candidate that fosters teamworkand has the ability to find solutions to problems in the absence of rigid specifications and standards. A high level of initiative and critical thinking skills will be essential as you manage technical projects and find and communicate solutions to customers, peers, and management.

A Day In The Life Typically Includes:


  • Designing, implementing & commissioning terminal instrumentation, automation systems, process control solutions, and electrical power distribution systems
  • Performing PLC/HMI programming, equipment configuration, and design and drawing reviews
  • Managing electrical and automation projects
  • Provide startup and commissioning support
  • Providing production support and troubleshooting for terminal automation systems
  • Taking part in a 24/7 on-call rotation

What You Will Need:


Basic Qualifications:
  • Technical or bachelor’s degree in an electrical or computer engineering discipline OR 5+ years of work experience in the automation and electrical field
  • 3+ years of experience in electrical engineering, automation, instrumentation and/or control systems (including troubleshooting)
  • Experience managing projects
  • Willing and able to be part of a 24/7 on-call rotation (Typically 5 weeks/year)
  • Willing and able to travel up to 50% of the time (travel averages around 25-30% but can have sustained peaks above that and is driven by project schedule and workload)
  • Ability to wear and use personnel protective equipment

What Will Put You Ahead?


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience supporting the petrochemicals industry and/or fuel and asphalt terminals
  • Experience with NFPA 70E and Electrical Safe Work Programs
  • Knowledge of the National Electric Code (NFPA 70)
  • Experience with Allen Bradley, Modicon, and Delta V systems
  • Experience with Safety Instrumented Systems and Hazard Analysis Methods
  • Experience managing $1MM+ projects
