Koch Heat Transfer is seeking an Engineering Manager at our manufacturing facility located at 4750 Sheppard Ave E., Scarborough, ON M1S 3V7.


The Engineering Manager will be a highly self-motivated and result oriented individual responsible for being the Mechanical Engineering team manager for engineer to order products manufactured by Koch Heat Transfer.


The Engineering Manager should have exceptional leadership and technical skills to lead a team of engineers and designers in a global environment. The Engineering Manager should have excellent organizational and planning skills to effectively manage engineering function. The Engineering Manager should have a proven record on problem-solving skills and anticipating any potential issues and work with customers in a fast paced environment.


The person in this role will report directly to the Director of Technical Services and will have a Engineers and designers reporting to him/her.



A Day In The Life Typically Includes:

The successful candidate for the position will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Serve as the engineering leader and a mentor for the team
  • Support the engineering team members on complex technical issues
  • Create detailed engineering plans, processes, and procedures for engineering staff to use and abide by
  • Schedule and oversee the timely completion of engineering projects
  • Oversee the quality of work performed and the methods used by engineering staff
  • Hire, train, and supervise engineering staff members
  • Lead development initiatives to identify opportunities for improved processes and design methodologies
  • Communicate and collaborate with other functional managers, suppliers, and contractors
  • Support the resolution of quality issues and customer field calls
  • Participate in customer meeting as required on a project
  • Respect, follow and embrace all the Safety Procedures
  • Understand and apply Koch’s Market-Based Management® and MBM Guiding Principles.


What You Will Need:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical/Structural Engineering

  • At least 10 years of experience in design and manufacturing of pressure vessel/heat exchangers

  • At least 10 years of experience and strong knowledge of ASME Section VIII Div. 1 Code, TEMA, NACE, and/or API standards

  • Hold a Professional Engineer license

  • At least three years managing a team and/or directing the work of others

  • At least three years of experience working with customers in the oil and gas industry, particularly EPCs, refineries and/or petrochemical companies

  • Strong computer skills and proven proficiency with MS Office products (Outlook, Word & Excel, power point).


What Will Put You Ahead?

  • At least five years of management experience

  • Master degree in business (or related field)

  • Shell and Tube Heat Exchangers industry experience

  • Welding and/or NDE knowledge pertaining to oil and gas equipment

  • Knowledge of Finite Element Analysis
  • Knowledge of ASME Section VIII Div. 2, and Pressure Equipment Directive (PED)
