Start your career with the Georgia Pacific Alabama River Cellulose mill! GP is looking for a Human Resources Administrator for our Alabama River Cellulose facility located in Perdue Hill, Alabama.  Located about 80 miles from Mobile, Alabama, the Alabama River Cellulose mill employs approximately 500 people and is non-union.  The ideal person for this role will have well-developed and effective interpersonal skills, strong computer skills, and experience in Human Resources. The HR Administrator creates value by supporting the HR team and all mill team members to achieve the value drivers of the business.


A Day In The Life Typically Includes:


  • Exercises considerable judgment in working with sensitive and highly confidential information related to the HR function
  • Model behavior consistent with the MBM® Guiding Principles; encourage others to do the same
  • Lead successful projects and change initiatives to achieve HR process excellence
  • Manages HR SharePoint site, including updating policies and information 
  • Collect, synthesize, and present people related data at frequencies and in formats most useful to internal customers (i.e. turnover, headcount, retirement projections in tables and graphs)
  • Prepares PowerPoint presentations, Excel spreadsheets, Word documents, org. charts, etc.
  • Coordinates with Talent Selection to assist in selection/hiring process for external candidates
  • Manage vendor relationships with temporary worker services
  • Assist with internal and external recruitment and onboarding
  • Effectively address inquiries from employees regarding HR policies, procedures, and benefits with a positive customer focus
  • Communicates with employees one-on-one and in group settings as a subject matter expert in: benefits administration, open enrollment, leave management (including FMLA, LOA, bereavement, etc.), retirement process, and policy interpretation.
  • Interpret policy and procedure documents: use independent judgment to resolve issues and escalate issues to HR Manager in a timely manner
  • Maintains compliance with the GP HR Compliance Standard and federal, state, and local laws (i.e. DOL, EEOC, AAP, FMLA, etc.) through developing as a subject matter expert, researching questions and seeking counsel from leaders for complex questions or matters
  • Ensures all personnel files and other HR files are created and maintained in accordance with GP Records Information Management requirements
  • Processes various personnel-related transactions either through the HR Service Center or via the HR Self Service (HRIS) system
  • Processes bi-weekly payroll by ensuring accurate and timely entry of information into Kronos
  • Writes unemployment compensation responses to the DOL
  • Assists with and coordinates a wide variety of special projects and/or tasks
  • Organizes and coordinates meetings, ensure rooms prepared for meetings
  • Perform related duties and responsibilities as required


What You Will Need:

Basic Qualifications:


  • 3 or more years of Administrative Experience
  • Associate’s degree or in lieu of degree 5+ years' of experience in HR Administrative or support role


What Will Put You Ahead?

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, HR, or a related field
  • 3 or more years of HR experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Experience using KRONOS, SAP, & TALEO
  • Thorough knowledge of applicable employment laws and regulations particularly the Fair Labor Standards Act, Family and Medical Leave and the Americans with Disability Act
  • Intermediate to advanced MS Word and Excel skills, experience with an HRIS
  • Well-developed and effective interpersonal skills; verbal and written communication skills
