Are you an experienced Human Resources Professional looking for a new challenge?  Georgia-Pacific has an opening for a Human Resources Manager who will provide leadership support to the Big Island, VA Containerboard Paper Mill.  The successful individual will work with the Senior Human Resources Manager to partner with the mill leadership to drive strategic initiatives, designed to drive continuous improvement of HR and site metrics.  The individual in the Human Resources Manager role will be expected to assume full HR leadership responsibilities for the as the current incumbent will be retiring in 2020.

 

The Big Island mill is a union facility with approximately 330 employees, located approximately 10 miles outside of Lynchburg, VA, and about an hour from Roanoke, VA, in the foothills of the Blue Ridge mountains.

 
A Day In The Life Typically Includes:
  • Responsible for driving multi-site salaried talent strategies that will improve the competitive standing of the business.
  • Be a steward for the advancement of MBM® capability.
  • Strategy development of HR policies, programs, and systems. Drive innovation and continuous improvement in HR functions and processes.
  • Overall responsibility for HR Compliance.
  • Ensure strategies are in place for identification and remediation of gaps in HR related risks.
  • Be a resource for business leadership as well as to the HR team in coaching, guiding and policy interpretation.
  • Responsible for Supervisor capability strategies and knowledge transfer.
  • Be a point of escalation for identifying and resolving employee relations issues. 
  • Be the lead for all hourly and salaried recruiting efforts, including college recruiting for Engineering Program and Co-ops.
  • Lead as HR Representative in grievance hearings and preparation for contract negotiations.
  • Use of data analysis and metrics to drive business strategies for labor. 
  • Manage special projects as needed.
 

What You Will Need:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher
  • Previous experience working or supporting a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • At least 5 years of Human Resources experience with increased responsibilities
 
What Will Put You Ahead?


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Human Resources or related field
  • Human Resources experience specifically within Georgia Pacific or another Koch company
  • Previous HR Leaderships
  • Previous experience in a union workplace
  • At least 5 years of Human Resources experience with increased responsibilities
