Koch Heat Transfer is seeking a Material Handler at our manufacturing shop located at 4750 Sheppard Ave E., Scarborough, ON M1S 3V7.  This is an afternoon shift role working 3:00PM-12:00AM Monday-Friday.

 

 

The Material Handler will perform material handling, verification or records of incoming and outgoing material for shipments and will prepare items for shipments according to quality and productivity standards.


The person in this role will report directly to the Supervisor- Shipping & Receiving.

 

   

 

A Day In The Life Typically Includes:

 

  • Safely handle material by using forklift or crane to proper department or areas

  • Unpack, examine, and routes incoming shipment

  • Rejects damaged material and records any shortages corresponding with shipper to rectify damages and shortages

  • Receives and processes all defective parts returned for replacement or credit working with purchasing department

  • Responsible for material handling and preparing for pick up by the carrier specified on the customer’s purchase order, which is conveyed to the shipping clerk by final inspection via the shipping instructions

  • Maintain the inventory of shipping material and supplies

  • Maintain the work area and equipment clean and orderly following safety guidelines

  • Perform handling of documentation via sources including FedEx, DHL, and other 3rd party courier services

What You Will Need:

Basic Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience examining and routing incoming shipment

  • 3+ years of experience taking accurate measurements of material using measuring tools such as metric ruler, callipers, and/or measuring tape

  • 3+ years experience working with a computer-based system to ship, received and track material

  • 3+years of working experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • 3+ years experience safely handling material using a forklift

  • 3+ years experience safely moving material using a crane

 
What Will Put You Ahead?

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2+ years experience reconciling mismatch inventory or purchasing expenses

  • Familiarity with mechanical drawings

  • Familiarity with Mill Test Reports (MTRs) and Bill of Material (BOMs)

  • Experience working in a metal manufacturing/fabrication facility

  • Previous experience rigging and loading/unloading loads

  • Current Forklift and Crane Operator licenses

 
Physical Requirements/Other Considerations:
  • Lifting, bending, stopping, standing, kneeling, squatting

  • Candidates must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs., unassisted

  • Exposure to loud noises, fumes, sparks, vibrations, dust, dirt, irritants and smoke may occur

  • Position requires the ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

  • Position requires the ability to operate overhead crane and forklift
