Our Georgia-Pacific Leaf River Cellulose facility is looking for a motivated, maintenance professional to join our team as a Mechanical Maintenance Technician. In this position, you will be utilizing your millwright experience, knowledge, and skills while building a fulfilling career in the Cellulose industry. A Day In The Life Typically Includes:


  • Performing maintenance to include: direct drive shaft alignments, bearing installations, belt/chain drive installations and using precision maintenance techniques
  • Troubleshooting mechanical equipment and systems to maintain expected machine performance
  • Inspecting machinery to identify issues that may lead to unplanned downtime
  • Participating in a preventative maintenance program to ensure machinery uptime
  • Performing various duties in the maintenance department related to assembly, repairs and fabrication of metal parts
  • Using blueprints and designs sketches to ensure proper dimensions and tolerance levels of finished product
  • Reading and interpreting complex work instructions and documentation

What You Will Need:


Basic Qualifications:

 

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Two (2) years or more of millwright maintenance experience in an industrial, manufacturing, or military environment
  • Experience using a computer for record-keeping and documentation functions
  • Willing and able to perform repetitive and physically demanding tasks such as lifting, walking, climbing, twisting, and stooping, for extended periods of time
  • Willing and able to work any shift, on-call, holidays, weekends, and overtime as needed
  • Willing and able to work in all types of weather conditions and in a noisy industrial environment 
  • Willing and able to maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations
  • Two (2) or more years of experience with precision shaft alignment by reverse dial indication method or laser alignment equipment
  • Two (2) or more years of experience troubleshooting issues with bearings, chains, sprockets, gearboxes and conveyors
  • Two (2) or more years of experience with precision measurement work


 

What Will Put You Ahead?


Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Five (5) years or more of millwright experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Three (3) years or more of machinist, precision mechanic, welding, or hydraulic experience in an industrial setting
  • Lubrication certification
  • Maintenance experience in the Pulp & Paper industry
  • Two-year degree/certification in Precision Maintenance or related field
  • Experience operating heavy equipment such as cranes, fork trucks, man-lifts, and/or carry-decks
