Georgia-Pacific is seeking an Operations Leader for a fully integrated bleached pulp mill operation in Perdue Hill, AL. This position will have operational responsibility for the operating areas of Woodyard, Fiberline/pulp mill, Pulp Dryer and Power/Utilities and will report to the facility Vice-President/General Manager.

 

The role is expected to lead the operations organization to achieve safety, environmental, and quality excellence and to improve faster than the competition in all operational elements. The operations leader will work with employees to develop a culture which is defined by our guiding principles and to grow our ability to understand and apply MBM® (Market Based Management) philosophy and tools in decision making and management of operations.

 

A Day In The Life Typically Includes:

  • Engages the hearts and minds of employees to strive for zero safety incidents
  • Strives to achieve environmental and compliance excellence in all aspects of the operation
  • Provides strategic leadership and coaching to engage all employees in a shared vision for the operation
  • Develops an understanding of the true current state and the desired future state, develops and executes plans and strategies to close the gaps
  • Utilizes effective verbal and written communication though out all levels of the organization 
  • Seeks out and uses the best available knowledge to advance faster than the competition
  • Develops, leads and coaches teams for maximum engagement and participation in pursuit of objectives and goals
  • Manages and advances all aspects of manufacturing to include: Reliability, Quality, Cost, Yield, Compliance and Capital/Maintenance Investment
  • Accountable for direct and indirect responsibilities for salary and hourly operation employees, including development of roles/responsibilities/expectations, performance reviews and compensation evaluations for each individual employee
 
What You Will Need:


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher
  • Seven (7) or more years of Plant/Operations management experience within a pulp & paper, chemical, or processing facility to include: production, maintenance, environmental health & safety, engineering, and operations  
  • Experience planning and managing business financials to include: profit & loss and capital investments
  • Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook


 

What Will Put You Ahead?


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering or Pulp & Paper Science/Technology
  • Ten (10) or more years of Plant/Operations management experience within a pulp & paper, chemical, or equivalent processing facility to include: production, maintenance, environmental health & safety, engineering, and operations 
  • Pulping, bleaching and recovery experience with maintenance, engineering and paper-making/pulp drying experience  
  • Experience using CMMS system
