Koch Heat Transfer is seeking an Outside Sales Manager at our headquarters in Houston, Texas.

The successful candidate will be a highly self-motivated and result oriented Outside Sales Manager with demonstrated integrity, customer focus and the ability to multitask and embrace change. The ideal candidate will have understanding for manufacturing and fabrication processes in an engineer to order environment. The person in this role will have the technical capability to understand customer’s needs and prepare accurate, competitive and timely quotations to our customers.
The ideal candidate will be an Outside Sales Manager that is independent, self-driven and thrives in a goal driven environment. This is a position requiring someone who possesses a high sense of urgency, is customer focused, and exhibits a keen attention to detail.
The person in this role will report directly to the Aftermarket Sales Manager and will work with different departments.


A Day In The Life Typically Includes:



The successful candidate for the position will be responsible for the following duties:
  • Build and Maintain Relationships at Key accounts with Turnaround Managers and Plant Maintenance Departments
  • Develop technical knowledge of Koch Heat Tranfer Product Lines and capabilities
  • Utilize market-based pricing to provide customer quotations.
  • Analyze blueprints and be able to read technical drawings
  • Work independently and with available resources to coordinate delivery and technical clarifications while maintaining compliance with laws, job specifications and procedures.
  • Remain in continuous contact with key welding, machining, and shop personnel to incorporate true fabrication hours into estimates and understand backlog constraints.
  • Maintaining an awareness of the disposition of KHT’s installed base of products
  • Seek opportunities for KHT products while visiting plants
  • Assist with maintenance questions and orientation with plant maintenance personnel for KHT products
  • Follow and complete any training requested by the company
  • Apply the strategies and vision of KHT that will enable us to exceed customer and management expectations by discovery and innovation, high standards and expectations, best practices and focus to capture all opportunities to maximize profitability.

What You Will Need:


  • Established contacts at refineries and chemical plants in the Gulf Coast
  • At least one year of working with heat exchanger types, heat exchanger operations, and heat exchanger applications.
  • At least three years of outside industrial sales experience
  • At least three years of skills and proven proficiency with MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, & Word).
  • At least three years knowledge in reading and interpreting technical drawing and customer specifications.
  • At least one year of working knowledge in utilizing ASME, TEMA, NACE, heat transfer and/or API codes
  • Ability to work independently and in a fast- paced environment.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to travel 30% of the time
  • High School Diploma or equivalent


What Will Put You Ahead?


  • At least two years of knowledge of fabrication process, metallurgy and/or code requirements.
  • Experience in plant maintenance
  • Familiarity in ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems such a Visibility, Oracle, or SAP.
  • Familiarity with HTRI software
  • Familiarity with refinery and petrochemical processes
  • Exposure to heat exchanger fabrication.
  • At least two years of exposure preparing proposals for end-users and/or EPCs.
  • Experience working with pressure vessel, heat exchanger, or heat transfer
  • Valid TWIC card and Safety Council Passport
  • Fluent in Spanish.
