The Georgia-Pacific Consumer Products Group Engineering team is looking for a Process Engineer to support our Conventional Wet Press (CWP) paper machines. This role could be based out of our Green Bay, WI or Atlanta, GA locations. The ideal candidate will have a paper making background and engineering experience to guide the advancement of our CWP paper making technologies to their most competitive state. This individual is primarily responsible for understanding CWP performance benchmarks, working closely with mill operations to improve operating performance, and standardizing platform technology for the CWP platform.

A Day in The Life Typically Includes:
 
  • Working closely with mill operations teams to improve paper machine OEE (overall equipment efficiency)
  • Understanding the strategic fit and role of each asset in the technology portfolio
  • Coordinating with mill operations, business teams, and engineering to develop venture summaries for investments and product improvements
  • Promoting knowledge sharing across the assets to fully leverage innovation and process improvements
  • Assisting with all operational aspects of design, construction, check-out, commissioning, and start-up activities for capital projects within the platform technology
  • Explaining/training engineers and technicians on process concepts and changes
  • Leveraging internal and external resources (technical, engineering, operations) for platform advancement
  • Demonstrating the ability to work effectively with all levels of personnel from mill operating and maintenance personnel to top corporate management
  • Possessing strong interpersonal, communication, and organization time management skills
  • Handing multiple tasks simultaneously and ensuring priorities are handled with a sense of urgency
 
 
What You Will Need:
Basic Qualifications:
 
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, or Paper Science Engineering
  • Two (2) or more years’ papermaking experience OR a Georgia-Pacific ELE/EDP
  • Willing and able to work in and around industrial equipment
  • Willing and able to adhere to safety regulations and policies to include wearing Personal Protective Equipment
  • Willing and able to work up to 12-hours to include nights, weekends, or day shifts during trials, down days, or project start-up support as the business requires
  • Willing and able to travel to work sites up to 50% of the time
 
What Will Put You Ahead?
Preferred Qualifications
 
  • One (1) or more years’ experience and training in analytical troubleshooting, advanced problem-solving techniques and proficiency in statistical analysis tools (ex: Kepner Tregoe, PROAct, etc.)
  • One (1) or more years’ experience creating and using process documents such as P&IDs
  • One (1) or more years’ experience with Microsoft Office, PI ProcessBook, and AssetSuite
