The Roles:


Georgia-Pacific’s Collaboration and Support Center is located in midtown Atlanta at Tech Square.  The CSC team partners with operating facilities by providing collaboration and support across multi-disciplines of expertise (GP and Vendors) to achieve scalable problem solving across manufacturing sites and businesses.  The team uses the best available technology with an enterprise wide approach and is primarily focused in the areas of Asset Health, Process Safety, and Process Optimization.   

Individuals in this space need good technical skills, communication skills and must enjoy working as part of a team to solve problems.  This center has evolved and grown so the ability to be flexible and adapt as the CSC adapts to business needs will be a key capability.  A successful individual in this role must be willing to take personal initiative to understand unit operations, gain relevant knowledge, engage SME's and must be able to work both individually and as a part of a team in a dynamic environment.  He / she must also be responsible and responsive to the needs of the sites that operate 24/7.


We are seeking two Remote Asset Process Engineers for our Plywood and Lumber Businesses. These roles will be providing remote Process Engineering functions by working heavily with the plant’s process and reliability data. Individuals are to interface with cross-functional teams and plant resources to find opportunities and improve asset health and performance.

Preference:  Chemical Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, or Industrial Engineer with experience working in industrial manufacturing facilities interfacing with process and reliability data to troubleshoot and discover operational gaps, reliability gaps, and drive process improvements.




A Day In The Life Typically Includes:


The daily routine to support operating locations is listed below, and the expectation is that the CSC team members will work together to support operations and cover for one another when needed.

  • Start each day by reviewing areas/assets of responsibility (25% of day) - Deviations, Trends, Potential Problems, Diagnose and notify appropriate subject matter experts (SMEs) and the site
  • Review Optimization Opportunities on areas/assets of responsibility - Pull SMEs, Vendors, Site into projects to optimize performance / cost / quality (25% of day)
  • Work together as an CSC team (GP and Vendors) on chronic problems or large opportunities where the combined skills of the team can help to solve problems (50% of day)



What You Will Need:

Basic Qualifications:


  • Bachelors of Science degree required

  • 2 years minimum experience in maintenance or facility operations in an industrial, manufacturing environment

  • Effective utilization of problem solving methods

  • Ability to manipulate, analyze, and visualize data with learned software tools

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and proven ability to learn and utilize communication tools (social networking, ie similar but not limited to tools such as Yammer)          

  • Proficiency with Functional Office tools (Excel, Word, Powerpoint, One Note etc.)

  • Willing and able to travel to sites to build relationships with operations and to understand process - 20%   




What Will Put You Ahead?

Preferred Qualifications:


  • BS Degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Industrial Engineering

  • Process and or reliability experience in an operation

  • Data management skills – PI, Envoy, MatLab, etc

  • Familiarity with analytic tools, python, R, SAS, etc

  • Process Control fundamentals – DCS, PLC

  • Mechanical reliability fundamentals
