We are seeking a Research Technician for our iNNOVATION institute® in Memphis, Tennessee.  Our iNNOVATION Institute ® is the central site for research, development and lab services for Georgia-Pacific’s Nonwovens business. The successful applicant will be responsible for operating the pilot papermaking equipment to support trial operations, as well as performing routine testing and operating laboratory prototyping equipment.  If you thrive as a continuous learner and enjoy using your skills and creativity to uncover innovative solutions, we are interested in learning more about you!

A Day In The Life Typically Includes:

  • Operating pilot papermaking equipment
  • Reconfiguring equipment to meet varying process requirements and product parameters
  • Supporting successful trial operations and developing new processes and/or techniques
  • Providing excellent service to trial leaders, supporting product/process creation and data collection
  • Performing proper maintenance on equipment to ensure reliable operation and minimizing downtime and repair costs
  • Learning new operator functions
  • Performing routine testing on pilot and lab-produced prototypes.
  • Operating laboratory equipment to create prototypes.

What You Will Need:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Three (3) or more years’ experience in a manufacturing environment to include troubleshooting of continuous process equipment

  • Experience with Microsoft Office to include; Outlook, Word and Excel 
  • Willing to drive a forklift and willing to obtain a forklift certification upon hire
  • Willing and able to work in a dusty, hot and noisy industrial environment
  • Willing and able to perform tasks such as lifting, stooping and pushing for up to 8 hours a day
  • Willing and able to maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations, including wearing proper safety equipment
  • Willing and able to travel up to 20% of the time
What Will Put You Ahead?

Preferred Qualifications:

  • An Associate Degree or higher in paper science or electro-mechanical technology
  • Three (3) or more years’ experience operating papermaking equipment
