Georgia-Pacific's Global Safety & Health Group is looking for an experienced Critical Risk Manager to manage asset protection for approximately 150 manufacturing locations.  The Manager will report directly to the Director, Critical Asset Protection. The Critical Risk Manager will provide risk reduction and fire and explosion loss prevention support for GP’s three manufacturing divisions.    

 



A Day In The Life Typically Includes:


  • Managing of GP’s 3rd party contracts for property loss prevention surveys, boiler & pressure vessel jurisdictional inspections, boiler & machinery risk evaluations, and metallurgical failure analysis services.
  • Communication of changes in risk to the business operations leaders to ensure that the risk aligns with their risk threshold and business strategy. 
  • Utilizing ‘As Low As Reasonably Practicable’ (ALARP) and the hierarchy of controls for risk reduction to assist business stakeholders with risk management decisions.
  • Incorporating appropriate risk management criteria into design, operating and maintenance standard for critical assets.
  • Engaging project management in the early stages of project development to ensure adequate fire protection and explosion prevention technologies are included.
  • Managing boiler outage extension request process for obtaining jurisdictional approval to extend the duration of boiler operating permits.
  • Reviewing and approving of modification or replacement of burner management systems and other safety systems.
  • Administering company loss control programs including input on hot work permits and fire protection system self-inspection programs.

 


What You Will Need:


Basic Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
  • Ten (10) years of property loss prevention experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Loss prevention experience with fire protection, boilers/pressure vessels, and dust collection systems

 


What Will Put You Ahead?


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working effectively with all levels of personnel from mill operating and maintenance personnel to top corporate management.
  • Experience in prioritizing and resolving conflicts between GP standards, government standards and current state to achieve ALARP.
  • Experience in innovating and transforming an asset protection program in response to continuing changes in technology.
  • Experience in training mill and divisional personnel on fire, explosion and dust hazards.
  • Knowledge of MS Office products including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.
  • Ten (10) years of property loss prevention experience in a  pulp, paper, and building products manufacturing
