We are seeking a Senior Accountant to support our Accounting Services Team. This position is based in Atlanta, GA at our beautiful Downtown HQ and LEED® Gold certified building.
This key role will create value by providing accounting support and governance to Georgia-Pacific’s accounts payable processes.  This position also works with projects related to cash processes, internal controls, finance and accounting compliance while interfacing with leaders in Corporate Headquarters, Compliance, Purchasing, Security, and Internal Audit.

A Day In The Life Typically Includes:
  • Ensure adequate internal financial controls (IFC) are in place to safeguard assets
  • Participate in various projects related to system changes and provide support for internal controls and compliance during these projects
  • Understand key processes/systems in accounts payable in order to provide support for Georgia-Pacific divisions and facilities
  • Review balance sheet reconciliations performed by our outsourcing provider and assist with issue resolution for required adjustments
  • Create value through process improvement and standardization


What You Will Need:
Education Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting, Finance or Business
  • GPA of 3.0 or above

Basic Qualifications: 
  • At least 4 years of experience in an Accounting, Finance, or Audit role
  • Solid understanding of overall Accounting Functions (GL, AR, AP, Inventory, etc.) and GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)
  • Solid understanding of intercompany transactions, and month end closing procedures
  • Conceptual understanding of the design and purpose of internal controls
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel – spreadsheet creation/editing, pivot tables, data manipulation/analysis and formula creation etc., Access-query, and PowerPoint – presentation creation/editing)
Preferred Qualifications:
  • SAP Experience, SAP-S/4HANA experience
  • Ariba Invoice Management, Infinium or Asset Suite experience
  • Previous supervisory or mentoring experience and/or desire to supervise in a future role
  • Experience providing timely information and service to internal business customers and auditors
  • Experience in Public Accounting or Large Company Corporate Accounting department
