We are seeking a Senior Accounting Analyst for GP Harmon Accounting at our Corporate Headquarters in Atlanta, GA.

 

GP Harmon, a GP subsidiary, is among the world’s largest recyclers of paper, metal and plastics.

 

This key position will provide accounting and analytical support and demonstrate leadership as part of the GP Harmon accounting team.  This position may also supervise / lead a team.

 

 
 
 
A Day In The Life Typically Includes:
 
The successful candidate will:
  • Advance the MBM® culture within the accounting team by applying and reinforcing the Guiding Principles in daily activities
  • Effectively manage  high-volume transactions operation in support of all Georgia-Pacific businesses
  • Proactively work to identify high value-added projects that drive process improvement
  • Effectively review and improve balance sheet account reconciliations to ensure account balances are correct and adequately supported
  • Ensure procedures and controls are in place to manage inventory accounting
  • Effectively perform analytical procedures over plant operations and financial activity
  • Effectively close the books at month end on a timely basis

**Overtime and some travel will be involved.**

 
What You Will Need:

Basic Qualifications:
 
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting, Finance or Business
  • At least FIVE years of experience in Accounting or Analysis
  • Aptitude and desire for learning new systems and improving processes through automation
  • Prior experience with Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word – document creation, formatting and editing etc., Excel – spreadsheet creation/editing, pivot tables, data manipulation/analysis and formula creation etc., and Access query)


Knowledge and Competencies

 

  • Proven capabilities of strong economic thinking, problem solving, accounting and analysis is needed
  • Strong customer focus
  • Conceptual understanding of the design and purpose of internal controls
  • Detail oriented with a strong focus on accuracy and attention to detail
  • Flexible and able to prioritize multiple tasks in a dynamic environment
  • Good communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Proven initiative with a focus on process improvement
  • Willing to drive and lead change, improve process, challenge status quo with a strong sense of urgency
  • Basic self-awareness and an understanding of how personal behavior impacts others  

 

 

What Will Put You Ahead?

Preferred Qualifications:
 
  • Previous experience with team leadership and talent development
  • Experience developing business partnerships, building relationships and customer service
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and internal financial controls
  • Previous experience in manufacturing or consumer products a plus
  • Previous experience in public accounting or large corporate environment a plus
  • CPA or MBA designation
