Flint Hills Resources is looking for a Senior Compliance Specialist  to join our Pipeline and Terminals team. In this role you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with Federal & State pipeline safety regulations (PHMSA/DOT/TXRRC/etc.); interpret and communicate existing and proposed regulations,. coordinate and facilitate regulatory compliance audit and audit preparation, develop and implement programs/procedures,  and serve as a point of contact for inquiries, issues and audits related to regulations.


This role would travel up to approximately 25% of the time to different FHR sites as well as other locations.

The location for this role primarily would be located in Wichita KS, Rosemont MN or Dallas TX

A Day In The Life Typically Includes:  

  • Review documentation for completed operations and maintenance activities to ensure regulatory compliance and adherence to company standards, facilitating necessary coaching, training and updates as needed
  • Prepare for and lead agency inspections
  • Identify, develop, revise and coordinate revision of company procedures to ensure compliance with current operations, and, new or pending regulatory changes
  • Respond to agency requests and prepare reports for submittal
  • Evaluate project plans to identify regulatory requirements
  • Be an active member  in business management of change
  • Identify, be an active member, or, lead management of change as related to Pipeline Safety program changes
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships within operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to facilitate a transparent, supported workforce relative to Pipeline Safety
  • Perform site walk-downs, including, on-site visits to support training and relationships as related to Pipeline Safety
  • Develop and maintain working knowledge of pipeline operations, maintenance, and, asset installations
  • Pipeline Safety program owner responsible and accountable for successful application of varied Pipeline Safety compliance programs, on, specific business assets, with, a focus on value added results achieved. 
  • Apply adult learning techniques to develop successful compliance programs, including, as applied to training and public interactions. 
  • Active member of the emergency response on-call team (rotating), and, incident management team for event response. 

What You Will Need:

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree Or 5+ year of relevant compliance experience 
  • 3+ years experience in pipeline industry 
  • Experience preparing for and participating in audits 
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills

What Will Put You Ahead?

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Past responsibility for compliance with Federal and State pipeline safety regulations
  • Demonstrated technical writing capability
  • Results based compliance program development and ownership  
Physical Requirements/Other Considerations:
  • Willing to travel up to 25%
  •  Ability to negotiate in, on and around piping at both grade level and above grade elevations. Navigate vertical ladders and spiral tank stairs to reach work areas.
