Sr. Manufacturing Process Engineer (Chemical)

 

Seeking an energetic individual to drive manufacturing process and equipment improvement. The preferred candidate has experience using current engineering best practices and methods.  The selected person will be a hard working, hands on, individual with a history of process improvement. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Providing active design, project leadership, and advocacy of continuous improvement and capital projects to benefit operations and facilities.
  • Assisting plant leadership in validating projects that drive improvement in unit operations or across the plant.
  • Delivering projects that provide statistically significant improvements in key manufacturing metrics (such as up time, yield, and unit cost)
  • Actively lead teams and provide individual contribution through problem solving efforts to reduce defects, cycle time, and rework
  • Provide management with project status through monthly project reviews
  • Facilitate improvement efforts for other work groups including Maintenance and EHS
  • Work with finance, procurement, and other members of the organization in assessing, tracking and reporting the financial benefit of all improvement projects
  • Oversee the development, planning, and execution of engineering projects within KMS's Wilmington Manufacturing organization.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

BS in Engineering (desired Chemical) / Preferred MS/PHD

 

  • Demonstrated experience using current best practice engineering methods and skilled project management to deliver manufacturing improvements.
  • Ability to perform calculations and develop models for manufacturing systems and processes.
  • Lean Six Sigma Greenbelt or higher preferred.
  • 5-15 or more years of hands on Project Management, Process Engineering and/or Equipment Engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Practical ability to apply selected Six Sigma and Lean tools/methodologies including (DOE, COV, Process Mapping, Kaizen, Visual Factory,5-Whys)
  • Strong project management, interpersonal and change management skills, including the ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong strategic business perspective and systems thinking capability and analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Results oriented with a demonstrated experience of balancing multiple tasks and priorities.
