Flint Hills Resources is currently looking for a Senior Process Engineer to join our team. In this hands-on engineering role, you will be responsible for scaling up new processes from conception to an operating plant as well as providing innovation, optimization and troubleshooting support to our facilities.  The position location is negotiable within our Iowa or Nebraska Biofuels and Ingredients facilities. Travel will be flexible depending on current projects and location. 

 


A Day In The Life Typically Includes:


  • Play a role in researching and designing innovation and optimization projects for our ethanol and feed product facilities
  • Review technical performance of the plants and make recommendation for change/improvement
  • Evaluate equipment with respect to performance and efficiencies, recommend new equipment where necessary, make recommendations for repair and replacement of equipment, and evaluate results
  • Develop capital project justifications and lead assigned projects
  • Provide process engineering support to the large capital projects group
  • Responsible for all technical aspects of newly developed processes including mass and energy balances Responsible for the improvement and optimization of operations
  • Frequent and direct interaction with employees at plants
  • Lead key Operational Excellence projects to support company and site goals
  • Provide technical expertise for PHA's (process hazard analysis) and assist with or lead Incident Investigations as required
  • Ability to effectively communicate with personnel at all levels of the organization

What You Will Need:


Basic Qualifications:
 
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering
  • 5+ years of experience at a wet milling facility, including specific experience with mechanical separation
  • Strong asset optimization software program capability (such as AspenTech)

  • Ability to respond to and support emergency issues on a 24/7 basis

  • Valid driver's license

  • New process development and start up experience 
  • Ethanol or Biofuels plant process
  • Predictive data analytics experience
