The Power Group is seeking a Service Technician that will provide technical field services primarily in the Northeastern US.

A Day In The Life Typically Includes:

A successful candidate for this role will be responsible for the installation supervision, troubleshooting and maintenance recommendations to our customers as well as commissioning new combustion equipment at customers’ job sites.   The successful candidate will have operational and functional knowledge of register burners, duct burners or utility burners.  The Technician must possess good mechanical aptitude with the ability to learn complex mechanical systems.  The Technician will also need to know how to communicate with PLC’s, PLC logic, and HMI’s and have a rudimentary knowledge of electrical design and wiring skills. 

 

The Technician will be expected to travel on a regular basis to customer job sites.  The Technician will need solid interpersonal skills and be a trusted adviser to the customer.  The Technician will be expected to advise the customer regarding spare parts and suggest future service. 

 

The Technician will be expected to climb stairs or catwalks and work in outdoor environments at job sites.  The technician will need to be responsible for meeting all the safety, health and performance training requirements.  Technicians must be actively committed to environmental, health and safety programs.  



What You Will Need:

  • 2 year Technical Degree from an accredited college in a mechanically-based technical major, OR military service working with boilers OR 3 years of equivalent work experience with register burners, duct burners or utility burners.
  • The candidate must be able to follow BMS and HMI programming and logic in PLC's.
  • A TWIC (Transportation Workers Identification Card) will have to obtained within first six (6) weeks of employment


This role has physical demands/unusual working conditions: 

  • Live within a 50 mile radius of a major Airport
  • Ability to travel to job sites approx to 75% of the time.
  • Climb stairs and ladders to access instruments will be required at many job sites in both hot and cold environments
  • Substantial overtime.



What Will Put You Ahead?

  • 4 year degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or University
  • Minor degree or additional certification in computer science or PLC programming/communications.  

  • 5 years in-field work experience in the petrochemical, power generation, pulp & paper, food processing industries OR active military service, working directly with combustion equipment.

  • Ability to follow Combustion Control Programming and logic in PLC's
