Georgia-Pacific is currently seeking a Shopper Marketing Manager to support the retail consumer business in increasing the subjective value of our GP brands and drive higher preference with the most valuable shoppers at specific retailers. The role is based in Atlanta, GA. 

Shopper Marketing is an essential part of our integrated marketing approach and our Brand Building capability, which reports into the Chief Marketing Officer.

Reporting to a Sr. Manager – Shopper Marketing, this position will be responsible for omnichannel marketing strategy development, activation, measurement and optimization all focusing on converting the shopper into buyers of our categories and our brands. The successful candidate are individuals that constantly practice principle entrepreneurship and transformation to create the greatest value, and with solid analytic and economic-thinking skills.  

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Retailer/Shopper Knowledge & Point-of-View
  • Retailer/Shopper-centric Marketing Strategy
  • Retailer Omni-Channel Marketing Plans (down to tactical level)
  • Shopper Program Creative & Execution
  • Shopper Program Measurement & Analytics

A Day In The Life Typically Includes:

Providing knowledge & insights, strategic planning, and analytics to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of our shopper marketing investments:
  • Retailer/Shopper Point-of-View: Comprehensive analysis on the categories and segments of interest, including: understanding of shopper needs, competitive landscape, retailer’s view of the category, knowledge of retailer marketing capabilities.
  • Industry & Marketing Knowledge: Rigorous knowledge of category and retailer specific dynamics. Clear understanding of GP brand strategies and priorities to support. Knowledge of available tools for digital & in-store marketing activation. Awareness of new and emerging shopper marketing tools.
  • Shopper Insights: Solid understanding of general category and retailer-specific shopper insights to help drive higher preference with shoppers. Where do they shop? When do they shop? How do they shop? What influence them to shop?
  • Marketing Strategy & Planning: Thought leadership and integrated planning with Sales, Category and Customer Investment to align on strategic priorities and retailer-specific investments to drive conversion. Development of holistic marketing plans to reach the most valuable shoppers in an effective & efficient manner.
  • Marketing Execution: Quarterbacking activation of retailer-specific programs, developing creative campaigns in collaboration the shopper marketing agency and with inputs across stakeholders: Sales, Integrated Brand Building, Content, Media, and Retailer partners.
  • Measurement & Analytics: Strong attention to tracking and measuring effectiveness and ROI of shopper marketing investments to help prioritize and optimize future plans. Partner with Brand Analytics team to define KPIs, set goals and objectively measure performance against goals.

What You Will Need:

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher.
  • 3 years of experience in Consumer Packaged Goods industry.
  • Experience in brand marketing, shopper marketing, digital marketing, eCommerce
  • Experience with promotions, coupons and advertising content development
  • Must be willing and able to travel 30-40%

What Will Put You Ahead?

Preferred Qualifications:
  • MBA or other advanced degree
  • Shopper Marketing experience
  • Prior P&L responsibility
  • Experience leading external agency partners and cross-functional teams

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Ability to think strategically and objectively to grow business.
  • Strong financial acumen, including working knowledge of a business/product P&L.
  • Ability to creatively find solutions to business questions and issues with a sense of urgency.
  • Solid presentation and written/verbal communications skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects to completion.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a collaborative / team based style.
  • Ability to give & receive challenge, and to influence and gain support from peers and senior leaders.
