Georgia-Pacific Chemicals is looking for a Sr. Account Manager to support the service and application requirements of our clients in the Industrial Construction Resins (glass mat, insulation and laminates) and Formaldehyde markets throughout the US and Canada. This position will home-based, preferably in the Southeastern US with access to a major airport and will report to the Sales Manager-Industrial Construction Resins and Formaldehyde.


The individual in this position, will be visiting our customers plants offering hands-on feedback and technical advice. In addition to working with the customer, they will be collaborating with R&D to identify opportunities for improving our current products as well as developing and introducing new products and services.


The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment to apply critical, economic and strategic thinking skills to build mutually beneficial partnerships with internal and external stakeholders. We are seeking someone with strong interpersonal communication skills that approaches their role creatively and executes duties with an appropriate sense of urgency to solve problems and resolve conflicts.


A Day In The Life Typically Includes:

  • Servicing the targeted customer base in a way that profitably anticipates and satisfies their needs
  • Building and maintaining multi-tiered, strategic relationships
  • Converting new business/opportunities into year-over-year profit improvement
  • Working collaboratively within teams (leader or member) to explore and execute new business/market opportunities/strategies
  • Developing and maintaining a list of profit improvement strategies that connect well-informed points of view to strategies that leverage Georgia-Pacific’s competitive advantage
  • Providing insight/recommendations for pricing strategy development and implementation
  • Prioritizing and deploying the organization’s resources consistent with Business Unit objectives
  • Proactively communicating to keep key personnel (internal and customers) abreast of relevant activities/matters
  • Applying critical thinking and urgency as a first-line responder to solving customer problems
  • Applying continuous improvement techniques to the sales process to improve business execution and results

What You Will Need:

Basic Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree in a science or engineering-related discipline OR at least three (3) years of experience in direct account management in industrial manufacturing facilities

  • Experience using Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability and willingness to travel 50-60% of the time within the US and Canada
  • Valid US Driver’s License and passport is required


What Will Put You Ahead?

Preferred Qualifications:


  • B.S. Degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering

  • At least five (5) years of experience in direct account management requiring customer sales/service activities within the chemical industry
  • Experience in glass mat, insulation, laminating, formaldehyde or other chemical sales
  • Experience in a leadership role
