Position overview:


 

Strategy Analysts will report to Point A’s Senior Director of Strategy and drive ancillary analyses, business research and other ad hoc project management activities to support efforts to drive lasting value for our members through our innovation process.  More specifically, Strategy Analysts will partner with our innovation team and member companies to perform mission-critical market and business analyses to help identify the attractiveness of opportunities and ensure they’re scaled successfully. Analysts will also tactically help ensure innovation waves adhere to schedule commitments, milestone targets, and financial constraints.   


General Responsibilities:

  • Work in partnership with clients to perform analyses (e.g., market sizing, cost benchmarking, market research), as a means for helping our member companies prioritize the attractiveness of solution ideas that emerge in our innovation process, including competitive benchmarking and value at stake estimations
  • Structure and lead data mining and information gathering across varied sources to extract insights and formulate and test hypotheses important to scaling pilot solutions
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to drive ad hoc business analysis to inform data-driven decision making and other operational improvement opportunities linked to innovation projects and strategic initiatives 
  • Act as a principled entrepreneur and team player by supporting best practice codification and implementation across projects, including operationalizing existing resources and sharing recommendations for how to improve them

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong problem-solving skills: comfortable with ambiguity, able to identify and define problems, and develop potential paths to solve them
  • Analytical rigor: able to conduct and manage “error-free” quantitative analysis with minimal oversight using a variety of computer software, including Excel and other Microsoft Office Programs
  • Action orientation: self-starter, strategic thinker with a “can do” attitude 
  • Intellectual curiosity:  creative, out-of-the-box thinker with a demonstrated interest in learning
  • Effective communicator: able to succinctly communicate complex ideas and issues 
  • Teamwork skills: enjoy working on a team.  Works well with others and gains credibility with team members and senior management over time
  • Business maturity: high-energy individual, with a proven record of leadership, who can easily function in a high demand, performance-driven environment around senior executives through a customer/client focused orientation
  • Multi-tasking skills:  Able to work on multiple tasks in parallel and understands how to deliver on short time frames and be committed to meeting deadlines 

What You Will Need:


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree 
  • 2+ years of experience in supply chain, management consulting, strategy, or business development

What Will Put You Ahead?


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree related to business, supply chain, or innovation
  • Big 3 management consulting experience (e.g., McKinsey & Company, Boston Consulting Group, or Bain & Company)
