Koch-Glitsch is seeking a Tool & Die Designer to work at our manufacturing plant located in Wichita, KS. 
 
As a Tool & Die Designer, you will create progressive dies that produce high-speed precision parts.  You will drive activities in design, detail, assembly, tryout and debugging with our toolmakers.  You will also be part of a team consisting of production, R&D and our team of designers to create new products and streamline current production techniques.
 

A Day In The Life Typically Includes:

 
The position requires experience with metal stamping/forming tool design and knowledge of tooling manufacturing processes. Preference will be given to candidates with design experience and knowledge of a broad range of stamping concepts focusing on single station and multi-stage progressive dies using Inventor 3D solid modeling software. The candidate must have an excellent mechanical aptitude, an understanding of electronic sensor technology and good theoretical/practical knowledge of metal forming processes. The person must also be comfortable performing in a manufacturing environment and should have the ability to communicate and work effectively with internal customers (various departments within the manufacturing plant). You will be responsible for coordinating with external customers (vendors) on scope of work, outsourcing, supplies, etc.  To be successful, you must be able to work both individually, and at times within a team environment, possess the ability to problem solve a variety of tooling related issues.  This position also requires extensive design and development collaboration with our Research and Development department 
 

What You Will Need:

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 2+ years of experience in 3D modeling software
  • 1+ year of experience working with precision measuring instruments
  • Understanding different tool steels and heat treatment processes
  • Understanding of the stamping process and industry
  • Experience with product design for manufacturability and product development
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Effective and constructive communication skills
  • Math skills (i.e., trigonometry, measuring)

What Will Put You Ahead?

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2-year Mechanical Engineering Technology Certificate/Degree or higher
  • 1+ year of experience in progressive die design
  • Experience with GibbsCam programming software
  • Familiar with CAM programs
  • Experience working with and troubleshooting progressive dies
