Occupational Health Nurse


We are looking for an Occupational Health Nurse, which will be located in Green Bay, WI, and supporting 5 facilities in Northeast Wisconsin.  This position is responsible for the overall health and medical services functions with emphasis on workers compensation, medical management, medical surveillance, employee return to work management and preventative care. This position will report to the Manager of Safety and Health Services.

A Day In The Life Typically Includes:

  • Providing direct employee care for occupational health injuries/illnesses utilizing sound nursing knowledge within the established medical directives\protocols
  • Coordinating and provides appropriate care, treatment, and follow up of work related injuries/illnesses
  • Documenting on all elements of nursing assessments, treatments, discharge instructions, and follow up care given
  • Compliance with standards related to occupational health and safety
  • Working closely with Safety, Human Resources and Legal Department members who are responsible for providing support to the facilities
  • Managing, coordinating, and implementing medical surveillance programs such as: Bloodborne Pathogens, Hearing Conservation, Respiratory Protection, and Asbestos
  • Communicating facility Health & Safety vision, strategies, and performance to internal and external stakeholders
  • Assisting in the management of short and long term disability claims with our TPA
  • Performing drug screen testing as needed
  • Communicating medical claim information to internal and external stakeholders
  • Interpreting occupational health regulations and standards and provides guidance for the facilities
  • Maintaining and safeguards confidentiality of employee’s health information and medical records as required by law and Georgia Pacific guidelines
  • Assisting with health promotion activities, education and training including Health/Safety fairs and other related activities
  • Overseeing medical supply inventory and calibration/maintenance of medical equipment
  • Assuming responsibility for professional development and continuing education
  • Responding to weekend and after hours medical questions for work related injuries
  • Explaining technical issues in common language


What You Will Need:

Basic Qualifications:
  • Licensed in the State of Wisconsin as a Registered Nurse
  • Three (3) years or more of experience working in a health care, industrial or manufacturing setting
  • After hours and weekend response availability



What Will Put You Ahead?

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with occupational health in an industrial setting or emergency room
  • Knowledge of OSHA, Workers Compensation, and ADA
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or related field
  • Certified Occupational Health Specialist (COHN, COHN-S) and/or Case Management designation     
  • Certified in audiometry (CAOHC)
